Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Sean Yano a relator with Prudential Hawaii was contracted to sell our home. We were asked to leave personal property in the home to be used for the staging process, patio furniture, beds, tables, paintings, tv and a statue of Buddah.

When escrow closed and we re-entered the home to collect our belongings, we found out that one painting, the Buddah and the stand he was on were missing."

Additional Communication Between Claimant and Sean Yano / Prudential Hawaii Hide
  • Jul 01, 2014, Claiming party added:
  • I went with the police to the Prudential office to file a report. We spoke with Brian Benton the Broker in Charge. He said he would look into the matter. The officers suggested Brian contact Sean Yano to try and find the missing items before we file a theft report which would go under criminal investigation.

  • Jul 01, 2014, Claiming party added:
  • Sean Yano has not responded to the People Claim, yet he has continued to call my father and harass him rather than contact me or respond to the claim as I requested via text. He does not answer my calls, that is why I felt I needed to go to the Prudential office and contact the police for advice and to file a report along with the People Claim.

  • Jul 10, 2014, Claiming party added:
  • Another broker from Prudential, John Connelly contacted me via email and phone. Rather than try and help me recover or replace my stolen items he tried to tell me they were not responsible because it says so in their contract with the owner, my father. And he proceeded to threaten me with a lawsuit for supposedly threatening them. I explained to him, if someone had broken into the house off the street, I wouldn't be holding them responsible. The problem is the realtor Sean Yano has been in the house with our statue and paintings for over a month and he never reported them missing. Even the new owner commented on the Buddha Statue. We only noticed them missing at 7 am when Sean's hired help sped away in their van and truck filled with furniture and items used to decorate the house. He offered my dad $200. You can't steal someone's $2000 car and then say "hey how 'bout I give you $200."

I've added my piece of furniture which was taken prior to the showing and never returned. And repairs for damage to my chair. They were told not to take these items, they were only given permission to move them next door.

We went ahead and transferred the "Misc report" to a "Theft" maybe they can track down Buddha and the painting.
