The food damage amount is $100 I have lost more than that each time the refrigerator went out. Plus me leaving work to be home waiting for them to fix the same issue. I think you should compensate me for something especially since you where fixing the same issue over an over. So many times two different companies wouldn't come out an fix it again. They said they did all they can do so they sent the manufacturer out. I miss lots of work due to this.
Irlene,I posted this privately last time, but am making it public as well. The credit for the refrigerator has already been issued on the account. To be able to receive any sort of credit for loss of food, you must submit your receipts to our warranty department. You will have to contact our warranty department about your other concerns.Adam YoungSocial Media/Online Reputation ManagerRC Willey Corporate Officesreviews@rcwilley.com
Rc Willy have credited my account, but I still have not received anything for the loss of food or me missing so much work. I am out a lot here for this an don't think it's fair. What are you going to do to make this fair?
Irlene,Unfortunately, there isn't anything we can do with the loss of wages. The service itself was contracted with a 3rd party. We helped facilitate the warranty process so that you can have the merchandise serviced. Since it wasn't able to be serviced, the warranty was fulfilled and a the value of the refrigerator was given to you to use towards a new one. The warranty itself was only in regards to the refrigerator.Once again, to be able to receive any sort of credit for loss of food, you must submit your receipts to our warranty department. You will have to contact our warranty department about your other concerns. You can discuss with them further about the issues to see if they would be able to help in any other way. I have sent some recipes in I don't keep them All. It's been over a week almost two weeks since I have sent the recipes in. As for lost wages of ur run around on fixing the Same part over an over an over again I will take that to the news an let everyone know what I went threw with my kids living out of an ice chest buying ice daily to keep things cold. I can see if it was a different problem each time but it wasn't it was the same part over an over.
"Our warranty department was working on this claim prior to Ms. Goggia posting this complaint. They were working with LG on the issues and it was determined that repairs to the refrigerator would not work and would take too much time. A credit for the value of the refrigerator has been given to the customer to use towards a new one. Adam YoungSocial Media/Online Reputation ManagerRC Willey Corporate Officesreviews@rcwilley.com"
This claim will remain posted until resolved.
It's good to see that the company has responded, but I think that simply replacing the broken-down LG fridge is completely inadequate in view of the extreme inconvenience and expense to the claimant. The life expectancy of a fridge is 14-17 years. The legal system's "reasonable man" (i.e. consumer) would not expect to have to do a major repair after two years. Either LG or RC Willey agreed - or a warranty applied - and so the fridge was repaired.
However, it broke down a further THREE TIMES. That's completely unacceptable. It's particularly unacceptable when the consumer has three kids to feed. Perhaps RC Willey hasn't lived out of an ice chest, but I have, and it's no fun - and it was only me at home at the time. Plus the claimant has had to endless take time of work.
I think there's a compromise to be had.
When my three year old Samsung fridge died, Samsung determined fairly quickly that it couldn't be repaired. When I say "quickly" I mean "the best part of two weeks," but still...at least I didn't keep restocking! They transferred the full original cost of the fridge directly into my bank account and paid me $100 for my spoiled food. The contents of my fridge and freezer totted up to about $500, but I was willing to accept the $100 because I reasoned that I had also basically had free use of the fridge for three years. I bought a brand new one with a good warranty and called it even. I was quite impressed with Samsung and even bought another Samsung fridge.
In this case, the claimant has restocked the "repaired" fridge three times as well as buying ice on a daily basis at a cost of $2-4 per bag, plus transportation. My view is that she's owed $500 - $100 for each "repair" that resulted in loss of food, and another $100 by way of apology for time off work.
This isn't completely fair - heaven knows what the value of the lost food really was, and also the claimant's time - but I think it's a reasonable compromise.
What say you both?
Good suggestion. I agree they should pay for some food. JP, you seem very fair. I probably would have demanded the full $500 but if you were happy with the full replacement of the unit you did the right thing in not demanding food replacement. I'd suggest in this case they settle on some allowance for food. The exact amount of loss would be hard to verify. In my case it would be a half jar of mayonnaise and a few pretzels. So maybe she deserves $300 plus another $200 for time? Would claiming party settle for $500?
