Claimant says:
"i am new to the area, and on Dec 19 i had car trouble. I asked a co-worker where i should go, and, he recommended Raitz automotive. I had it towed over there. When they called me a couple of days later(weekend) I was told it was the battery, and it was ready.
When i got over to pick up my car, the price was
$248.00!!!! Just to put a new battery in. Now, I still have out of state plates on my car, and, its the week of Christmas. They figured i was traveling for the holiday, and severely price gouged me.
There was a problem with my oil pan, also. They wanted $530.00 to replace it. i declined. I tried another garage, and got it done for $230.00. HALF the price!!!!!
If this is the way that travelers and transplants are treated in Kannapolis, then it's a damn shame."

  • I disagree with the explanation / grounds provided

    "The charges that were made by Ms. Minney were for diagnostic time to test her battery, alternator and starter. We tested all these items before we diagnosed the battery to need replacement. The other charges were for the installation and the cost of the battery itself. There was no intention to overcharge or take advantage of the customer. Since a local address was given there was no reason to think she was from out of town. We apologize for any inconvenience."
