Claimant says:
"Preman roofing installed a roof covering on my flat commercial roof. It was to be a forever roof requiring 10 tear maintenance intervals. Their roofing system deteriorated after one year and now at the two year point the elastomeric overlay and mesh underlayment are coming off the roof. Contract calls for certain quantities of product installed in each of 2 or 3 layers and Preman will not assist in conducting a repair on the roof after a one square foot section of the roof is sent to the lab for verification. Additionally the contract called for removal of low areas (ponding) and installation of an additional of underlayment in those areas. There are many other issues but in my expert's opinion their roof has has to be replaced. The two hard layers of acrylic and mesh are topped by a soft elastomeric coating . To put a hard new surface layer on a soft underlayment layer would be folly."

  • To resolve this horrible roof installation Preman has offered to spot fix the roof and conduct a test on the newly installed product. Obviously this ingenuous attempt does not test the original installation. This company obviously knew how to repair the roof and install the product. Western Colloid supplied the product without pre-inspecting the old roof as required and it is our intent to prove the roof received was not what was installed. San Diego had 4-5 inches of rain last year and the product simply does not work as installed. Two of the pictures enclosed are of areas of the roof that failed after the first year and the other is a picture of Andy (Preman's supervisor) walking the roof at the one year point. During that inspection he told Preman's owner that the roof was worse than expected! Preman's insurance company wrote a two year policy that covers the interior of the building. Obviously they have not paid a serious claim in San Diego. The insurance company's independent inspector said the roof had not failed yet but it is just a matter of time.
