Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I own 2 properties. One property is in Mason City,IA the other is in Garner,IA. In July of 2017 I called PMC and let Carrie Omans know that I had made a lot of improvements to both properties and I would like to set up a time that PMC could come and look at the improvements and we could adjust my coverage as necessary. I needed to have my personal liability and replacement insurance on my property in Garner because that's where my i was living and where I would have many people coming through to give estimates and perform improvements (One of my personal workers was present to witness phone call). Carrie said that my insurance was set up that way and I had a million dollars for personal liability. I stated to her that I didn't think she was understanding how much money I had put into both properties so I would come in and talk to her about it in person. I did so and once again she stated I had all of the coverage requested above for my Garner property. She did a reissue of insurance at that time to show I came in and did my due diligence but changed nothing. I had an electrical fire in my Garner property on Nov 1st of 2017. I find out at that time (through Auto Owners that's who covers the payout) my property in Mason City still had all my personal coverage and that it was the only one that had replacement cost. I went in to ask Carrie what happened since I told her I needed both of those things for both properties. She looked it back up again and at that time stated that she made a mistake and was looking at the wrong policy but there was nothing she could do about it now. The company now knows their agent made a mistake they agree that I paid for the coverage that I needed it's just not on the right property and they refuse to make it right."

  • I was at Stacey's place when she called PMC Advantage to let them know she'd like to set up a time for an agent to come and see both her Mason City property as well as the Garner property because thousands of dollars had been put into both. She also asked if she had the right amount of personal property and personal liability on her Garner property because there was on going work being done on it and she wanted to be sure if someone hurt themselves or stole any of her extensive tool collection she'd be covered. The agent told her she was fully covered and that there would be no need for them to come and look at the work that had been done. Stacey started that she felt that she didn't feel that the agent was fully understanding so she'd go in the next day which she did. She was told no changes were needed again about 2 weeks later the agent reissued the policy with no changes. Brook Paulsen
