"Hello,
Panera Bread is one of our favorite places to eat. Since my husband and I are "empty nesters," we often eat at Panera. The chicken soup is delicious. We have never had a problem with the food, and have eaten in locations, like Richmond, Va; Salisbury, Md, and Blacksburg, Va. However, last evening, June 26,2012, we encountered a problem. Both my husband and I ordered salads. They were delicious, but within 1 hour, both of us were ill with intestinal difficulties. In fact, as I write this, my stomach is still aching and I still have diarrhea. Both my husband and I have never felt ill at the same time immediately after eating at Panera. The reason I am writing is that one of these things must have happened:an employee did not wash their hands before touching the food;the salad was not washed properly; or the batch of salad mix was contaminated.
I have never written to a restaurant chain to complain, but if there is a chance that there is a "bad batch" of salad mix out there in Virginia, then perhaps someone should inspect the premises at the Harrisonburg, Va location. There may have been other people who had gastrointestinal problems as well. I also know that there has been an outbreak of a virulent gastroenteritis in the area, so if a sick employee reported to work, the contamination of the food could be attributable to that.
We have always had a great experience at Panera, and feel confident that you will look into this matter.
