Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I had an A/V upgrade done on my coach a few years back. The entire install was done by Marathon Coach of California. The system was a full upgrade on the A/V and was to include a new Kenwood dash mounted GPS. Once I arrived they gave me tours of other busses and showed me what they could do with a crestron system in the dash. I ordered one immediately and had it next day aired to the California location. The system was scheduled to be completed in a week and I would be on my way. The system did not get installed properly and I was forced to pay the bill with the understanding in writing that the coach would be fixed at anytime at any Marathon facility.
Move ahead 2 years and I return to have my coach fixed at Marathon Coach's Oregon facility after scheduling in advance. From the time I left California my A/V system had not worked as well as part of my coach Techlink controls and my heat and air conditioning system. Not very good for what are claimed to be the best coaches with the best service.
I arrived on a Monday morning at the Marathon facility in Oregon. The minute I showed up I was met by Scott K, their service manager. I was informed immediately they did not intend to fix my coach at no cost. He explained to me that it was my fault for having the work done at the California location and that it was also my fault for not staying longer in California even though it was scheduled to be completed in the week I was there, and no one started the work until late in the day on Wednesday when i was in California. He then explained it was also my fault that I had not returned for service long ago and the letter saying Marathon would fix my problems didn't mean anything. He explained the work was done by their California facility and that was not Marathon anymore and had closed. Things went down hill from that point as they accused me of having someone else program the crestron unit and would not fix anything.
This went on for almost six weeks with me explaining at every level that Marathon was the only ones to touch my coach and it was indicated to me that the program in the crestron was the same as their other coach they had programed and was in coach 516. it elevated to the point the CEO told me he had proof and called me a liar. I have repeatedly told them they are the only ones who have worked on my coach and they claim to have proof that is not the case. I have owned the coach for many years and I would know if I had in fact hired someone to program the crestron unit and i did not. I am now heading out to pick up my coach with none of the A/V work repaired and they won't even work on the other items I requested. This is not only the worst customer service I have ever encountered it is without a doubt the most offensive i have ever been treated as a customer and to think they pride themselves on their service.
I have asked for what proof it is they think they have as I know none exists and can never exist for an event that never happened. They refuse to tell me or show me their proof but continue with the stance that they will not repair my coach.
i explained to them i would be forward with a law suit and it sounded as if they had many occurrences in dealing with such matters.
the arrogance of the individuals all the way up to the CEO of the company and their accusations of having proof of an event that does not exist is unbelievable. when I have asked repeatedly for such proof or a letter in writing as to why they will not service my coach they refuse to supply me with any such statement or proof.
Its no wonder that people are no longer buying Marathon Coaches and that the production has dropped of to a mere few coaches per year. My recommendation to anyone looking to purchase a new or used coach would be to look hard at another manufacture and shy away from such poor service."
