Claimant's opinion: nothing covered under warranty
Mr. & Mrs. Fields purchased a 2012 Polaris Ranger Vin# 4XAWH7EA4CE643835 on July 28, 2012. Our records indicate when Mr. Fields picked his Ranger up everything was completed except for the cleaning of the machine. We offered to clean the Ranger, but Mr. Fields insisted it would just get dirty when he transported it to his house. Keefer's Powersports did offer a $120.00 gift card as good will for not having his Ranger cleaned for delivery. (See attached PDI form signed by the customer and dealership representative which is the form that shows the dealership went over all necessary paper work and went over everything pertaining to the Ranger). When Mr. Fields left our dealership, our records indicate he was perfectly happy. We did not hear from Mr. Fields again until October 25, 2012 with a complaint with his brakes. Keefer's replaced the brake switch at no cost to the customer. See attached repair order #205238. Mr. Fields filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and we were notified on November 2, 2012. We did respond to said complaint and the BBB found that Keefer's did not act unjustly and/or there was no wrong doing on our part. The claim was resolved in our favor and Mr. Fields was notified of said decision. As for Mr. Fields stating his warranty would be void for the lift he installed, he was informed that only the suspension part of the warranty would be void, not the entire warranty. Mr. Fields chose to cancel his extended service contract on November 2, 2012. In his complaint, Mr. Fields states that the rear end was 6 quarts low on fluid. The rear end only holds 33.8 oz of fluid which is just a touch over 1 full quart. In his complaint, Mr. Fields also claims that the front tie rod jam nuts were very loose. The tie rod is held on with a cotter pin which would not allow the nut to back off, even an inch like he stated. Keefer's Powersports never heard from Mr. Fields from November 2, 2012 of any problems or concerns until we received this letter on July 10, 2015. Keefer's Powersports stands ready and willing to work with Mr. Fields on any current or future problems he may have.
They did offer to clean it but there was no PDI performed. It still had the magic marker writing all over it and paper. I was given a $120 gift card due to it not being cleaned and had to install the windshield myself. I did not have it 2 days before the left front shock/strut was bottoming out.Never off the blacktop, still in break in period. I contacted Keefers service dept. on Aug. 1st. and they said it would be 3 weeks before they could look at it. This was 1 week before hunting season which is why I bought it. So to keep the tire from rubbing the inner fender I put a 2" lift on it which worked fine until I took it to them which was at the end of Oct. and they said the warranty was void because of the lift. Quote "We aren't going to lie for anyone"That is what the service manager said. I didn't ask to lie I just wanted it fixed and I would have taken the lift back off. They quoted me a price and I said no way. Then he (Mr. Keefer offered to pay half and I said why should I be responsible for a defective part? Which was almost $600) And if they had any mechanics with any knowledge they would know that the tie rod nuts I was speaking of have a jam nut at the BACK of the tie rod that keeps them tight. Both sides were not ever tightened. Do you know how easy it would be for one of their fine mechanics to check off on the list and never perform any of the checks? That is what they did on mine! I chose to cancel the extended warranty because they told me that nothing would be covered on the existing warranty. Now maybe it is just me but I couldn't see paying out another $1500 for a warranty that they weren't going to let me use. I had so many problems with this from day 1 it is unbelievable. LEFT FRONT SHOCK, 4 SETS OF WHEEL BEARINGS, 5 AXLES, THERMOSTAT, 3 COOLING FANS, FRONT DIFFERENTIAL, COMPLETE ENGINE OVERHAUL, etc. I am 50 years old on disability and I do not abuse my vehicles. I spent over $5000 trying to keep this thing going but finally took a loss on it and traded it in on a Kawasaki teryx. I have had it since AUG. 2014 and have not had any problems. They are lying about when I took the Ranger in and what they told me about the warranty
