Claimant says:
"In January I noticed black mold growing in the seaboard of my bay window. I called JELD-WEN Inc. to explain what was wrong. I was told that they would come look at it in a few months. After they looked at the window, it was brought to my attention that there was 5 manufacturing defects besides the mold! an employee of JELD-WEN Inc. decided to send a new window but have there contractor install it. The contractor of JELD-WEN Inc. called my original contractor PALU Home improvements and tried to pay him cheaper then his original bid was. I received a call from JELD-WEN Inc. the day before my window was being delivered and wants to know where I can keep it until he can install it and this could be up to a couple of weeks. I was also told that during the shipment of my new window was damaged but could be repaired. All I was asking for was a new window that didn't have any damage to. I already have a defective window and they are trying to replace it with another damaged window.
I should get the product that I paid for, installed that has no defects or damage to. Remind you I have only had these new windows in my home for 8 months and there is a cracked window in my spare bedroom also. When dealing with a well known company I should have never been offered a damaged replacement window. If I didn't like there options I could have them take my bay window out with nothing to replace it with and give me my money back.
JELD-WEN Inc. should pay the original contractor to install the replacement window including all costs of new pine wood trim that was stained and finished. JELD-WEN Inc. should have never taken there time to investigate was the issue was when there is black mold growing. That is terrible for my health and my families as well as my dog.
This issue has been going on since January and it is now March. I still have a mold infested window in my home and JELD-WEN Inc. has not been friendly or caring for this terrible problem.
