Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"After having a heart attack in 2013 Mass Gen Hospital gave my bill to Gragil Assoc. of 29 Winter St,. Pembroke MA. 02359, (Tel 800-336-0299), because I was unable to meet Mass General’s minimum payment request. I am retired and on a fixed income with other bills due as well. A payment was agreed upon with Gragil in the amount of $20/mo. which I have faithfully tried to adhere to. I live in subsidized housing and requested Gragil to provide me with documentation for the amount of money I paid each of the last three years to meet my Subsidized Housing re- certification requirements. They said it was not their policy, refused and I had to go to my bank to get copies of all my canceled checks (a very time consuming and arduous ordeal) for my housing re-certification process. Gragil also told me it is their policy not to send out any form of monthly billing or statement advising me of my payment status.
This seems to be a completely unfair business practice, unethical, simply not right, and, is unconscionable and untenable. I get monthly bills from every other debtor I owe money to advising me of my status and what is due for the current month. I would like to see this situation clarified and resolved so I know where I stand with what I have paid and what I still owe Gragil Assoc. I missed the payment when I was spending all my time gathering the bank information for my Housing Re-certification requirements. Every debtor I have ever dealt with has provided billing monthly information except for this company.
I called them May 16, 2016 and they say they are not set up to do monthly billing and it’s not their practice. They said they would send me a letter advising me of what I still owe, but refused to provide me a monthly bill."
