Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"We purchased a Travel Package from Goldstar Getaways on 19 August 2016 for $4,995. The company representative made several claims, ie. registered with the Better Business Bureau; been in business for over 30 years, which we found out later were lies They misrepresented what they offer such as substantial discounts on travel as we found out when 3 of our family members tried to make travel arrangement with the company. The savings were miniscule over what they could get elsewhere, and when they tried to get answers to their questions or concerns, their calls were not returned. We have tried personally on several occasions within the last week to contact Goldstar Getaways by phone and by email, to no response.

We do not wish to deal with a company that has such deceptive business practices, and therefore, request a full return of our money."

  • We stand by our earlier claim that the company misrepresented their claims that we could get substantial discounts by using their service. While it is true that they did give several quotes, they were far above the discounts that were represented we could have. While it is true, they gave us several quotes, we did not use their service to purchase any tickets or vacation packages. Goldstar also misrepresented themselves re the discounts. In their presentation there was no mention of the fact that to get the discounts, you had to pay nearly full fare and then we were obliged to get the discount directly from the supplier of service, a highly improbable situation.
    The fact that they told outright lies re their Better Business acrediitation and their business record tells volumes about them being an honest and reputable company.
    We are still demanding that they return our fee in full.

The claimant's settlement terms were rejected with the following explanation:
  • I disagree with the explanation / grounds provided

    "The Stringhams have used their program 3 times since they have had it. They where told in the presentation that they would not receive discounts on stand alone airfare and single night hotel stays. They are not entitled to a refund because of usage and this was explained to them on the phone. Also we have never received a written request for cancellation. The did have a 3 day right of cancellation form the date of the start of the membership, this is according to the state law."
