Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"wash machine purchased August 2008. Only 4ppl. in my family. I don't feel with normal usage on a 2 yr old washer should no longer agitate/wash the clothes any more. I feel this washer is a defective washer and I would like GE to replace it with an equal value washer.
It does not agitate/wash the clothes during the "wash" cyle. When "wash" cylce completed, it makes a clicking noise constantly and spins with nothing in it. It started doing this in October 2010. Customer service very rude and quick to get you off the phone, including Superviser, Mr. Watts (spelling?) at Consumer Relations. Very rude and have a don't care attitude. I spoke with two customer service representatives and finally was transferred to a Superviser, Mr. Watt's. He was very rigid and "short" on the phone almost like I was bothering him with my issue that I had with my washing machine. He quoted me $79.95 for just the service call and any labor was additional. I asked how much labor was and he could not tell me. I explained that I paid about $400 ($448 was cost of my washer I bought on August 23, 2008 plus $69 delivery fee) on the washer. At a service call for $79.95 plus labor I could have bought a new wash machine for the cost of fixing my current one. I am a landlord and own 3 homes which I buy appliances for and I will NEVER buy another GE appliance of any kind because of the horrible customer service and short life span of the actual appliance. I feel that a washing machine should last much longer than 2 years for a family of 4 with normal useage.

I bought the washer on August 23, 2008 and the washer started making the clicking sounds and was spinning when cyle was complete and stopped washing in October 2010."

  • 10-15-2010 — Started to hear clicking noises and saw tub of washer spinning when cyle was complete. Noticed clothes not coming out washed like they were in the previous months. Also noticed the washer just filling up the tub with water, not agitating or washing clothes, water drained and then when cyle was done the washer continued to spin and make clicking noises. Even when no clothes in washer the clicking noises and spin continues when empty. We have to keep the lid to the washing machine up when not in use so it will stop spinning and making the clicking noises. I feel this is a defective washer. We bought two washers and two dryers. One washer and dryer for our one of our rental homes and one of each for our home we live in. The one I am complaining about is the one in our home we currently occupy. The other washer in one of our rental homes works just fine so that is why I feel this is a defective washer.
