Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I paid a deposit of $1,020 to lease a house from this company. I paid my rent on-line and on time every month for the 1 yr. lease period. When I sent back the letter that I wasn't going to renew my lease, I was emailed a Tenant Move Out sheet of required actions. I completed all actions including providing a receipt for professional carpet cleaning. However, this company claimed that they had to do interior cleaning, carpet cleaning, cleaning out items, etc. They even charged me for three light bulbs, a cracked doorbell button (cracked when I moved in) and removal of wasp nests. I was also charged for lawn maintenance even though my son and I mowed and edged the lawn the evening on the day we moved out. My neighbor even walked over to ask if he could help me because he saw that we were trying to get everything looking its best. The second complaint I have with this company is the fact that I did forget to pick up my camera that was on the kitchen bar. I wanted to take pictures of the interior of the house and yard before I left. I called the agent and she blamed it on the maintenance men, but she is the one that completed the walk-through inspection the night I moved out. I also left a cheap vacuum cleaner that had stopped working while I was trying to finished up with all the last bit of cleaning. It was late Friday evening, so I decided to go get dinner and buy a vacuum and return early Saturday morning. However, the agent Raenell Wilkison had already come into the house because I get drop off the keys and the garage remotes before the office closed at 5 pm. I wanted to get the keys turned in because I was leaving to go out of state on Sunday and would not return before June 30th and I was told that if the keys were not turned in and I was not out of the house by the 30th then I would be charged another month's rent. I explained my situation to the man in the office and told him that my teenage boys were still at the house finishing up. I could not foresee my vacuum cleaner breaking that evening. One of my son's still had his key, so I did not think that it would be a problem for me to return on Saturday morning to finish up the vacuuming and to retrieve my broken vacuum cleaner and my camera. But a simply vacuum cleaner breaking has caused me much grief and frustration with this company. Mrs. Wilkison recovered my camera, but all my 200+ pictures of my students and a few school events were erased "accidently" from my camera card. I did take pictures of the interior of the house with the camera on my phone and they are date stamped. This company has been nothing but difficult to deal with over this situation and they have continually made me feel like I did something wrong when they are the ones that are being dishonest."
