Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"This Hospice Agency was negligent in offering Hospice care to an immediate family member. Did not return calls, do scheduled visits to family home, sent incompetent help to home to provide care for patient. Was non acessible to family members, then was concern was expressed to physician and request made for new agencey Embracing refused to release paperwork to new agency. This agency should be reprimanded in some way, in fact I am strongly considering a lawsuit.

  • After researching your claim, organizations providing hospice care must be licensed as a Home and Community Support Services Agency (HCSSA) and have a contract with Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) (http://www.dads.state.tx.us/providers/Hospice/howto.html). DADS is able to investigate claims and complaints about care provided by agencies that are licensed by and have a contract with them to provide hospice care. If you feel that the care received and contact maintained was not consistent with the care needed for the patient, perhaps an investigation opened up by the agency could be of service.
