Claimant says:
"My daughter was trying to get dish network installed in her home. A rep from dish network contacted me ( her father ) and stated that there was a problem with the computer at her bank. he then told me that he needed one dollar in order to get the ball rolling in order for it to be a legal contract between dish and my daughter. He then ask would I be willing to give them a dollar so they could proceed with the order. I told him that I would not mind as long as it was understood that I was not responsible for this account in anyway . I reiterated that I did not want and did not assume any involvement with this contract for service at all , that I was basically just allowing dish to take one dollar from my account to apply it to the contract between dish and my daughter. The dish rep. assured me that this was so. I allowed him to take one dollar from my account. The first bill that came to my daughter after installation had my name on the bill . She contacted dish and informed them that this was incorrect. When she told me about this I went on line a checked my credit and found that dish had ran a credit check on me without my authorization , no doubt to make me a cosigner on this account , also without my consent . Dish has sense taken $440.00 out of the account that I allow them to take the dollar out of," to get the ball rolling" ! Just today I got a call from dish demanding another $149.00 ( I believe that was the amount ). I don't believe I have ever come up against a company as deceptive in their quest to gain customers as this one . Needless to say my daughter discontinued service when I told her about them running the credit check on me and putting me on the account. This is why dish is trying to soak me for all of these charges . My daughter has closed her bank account . I have been forced to get a new debit card to stop them from removing unauthorized funds from my account . I do not have a recording of the conversation between myself and the dish rep. that spoke to me to get the dollar but I am sure dish does. My daughter has requested that dish get this tape and review it . Also my daughter discontinued the service with dish before the 30 day grace period and should not have a cancellation penalty in the first place.
