Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I hooked up with Direct TV for a Christmas gift for my grandchildren. I htought it was for one year, No I found out it had to be for two years. OK I would not pay $77.00 for the bill ,So they dropped it back down to $36.00 pr/month. So I paid it for another year. June sixteenth 2013 the contract is up. I called them on Friday May 10, 2013 To let them know I wanted the service shut off on June 16, to send the boxes to send equipment back and paid the bill in full up to June 16,2013. As of saturday may 11,2013 the Tv Servce was shut off. I called to have it turned back on. Monday May 13,2013 the receiver was reading not authorized. So I called the company AGAIN . They said something was wrong with it because of weather in area. Weather was not bad and in two years there has been no problem I was told they could come to the house for $50.00. I said no way I am paying anything. I told them to shut it off now and reimburse me the monies I paid. He said it would cost $20.00 for having it shut off early. It seems all they want is to cause grief this last month and get as much monies they can. What can I do? Should I take them to court?"

  • Directv thinks that no one can take them to court they told me I signed a contract stating that. As long as they allow the contract to run out without any more problems I wont have any more dealings with them as long as they dont charge anything more. But I am hear to say YES Directv You can and Will Be taken to court if these terms are not ment.

  • Thank you for contacting us through PeopleClaim, Susan! We do want to help you with your situation, but I do need to clarify that I do not have access to your account information through this avenue.

It is extremely rare, but technical issues can occur with disconnecting and reactivating equipment. It is hard to say what happened without being able to look over your account, but if a problem occurs, it normally has to do with issues with the signal strength needed to reauthorize a receiver through the system.

To really be able to look into this matter, we would need to review your account with you. The best way to contact us as quickly as possible regarding a technical issue is to call our customer service at (800) 531-5000. This way we can verify your account with you and help with any concerns you have.

    Thank you again,

    Rebecca
