Last summer I received an NHTSA-mandated recall notice regarding an ignition problem with our 2006 Jeep Commander. The letter states that Chrysler will contact us when the part is in stock. We have never heard anything. We did call the local dealer's service department but were told that, as stated in the letter, we'd be contacted when the part is in stock. We have never heard anything from Chrysler. We are very concerned about several disturbing incidents with this car. We have tried to use it as little as possible pending a fix, but this long delay is completely unacceptable. VIN: IJ8HG558226C219706UPDATE March 13 2015I have received your letter of Jan 30 responding to my complaint. "Chrysler has issued Recall P41-Ignition Switch Recall on your 2006 Jeep Commander. Unfortunately, service parts for this Recall are still not available. We will contact you again by mail, as soon as they are ready." This recall was issued on July 21 2014 and you still haven't been able to come up with the parts almost 8 months later? What exactly does it take to make this a matter of urgency? At this point you need to provide alternative transportation for my teenage daughter if you cannot assure me that the car you manufactured is safe for her to drive--which clearly you can't.Update May 7 2014ChryslerAttn: J.S. Susulla / Special InvestigationsPO Box 21-8004Auburn Hills, MI 48321Dear J.S. Susulla,I’ve received your response to my complaint filed with the NHTSA and two Attorneys General. While Chrysler does ‘not work with this for-profit complaint referral service,’ it appears that you do not work with first parties (me) either, since you first ignored the letters I sent myself. I’ll go ahead and send this one certified, so that at least I’ll know you got it.This seems like déjà vu all over again, doesn’t it? You know there’s a problem, haven’t found a fix close to a year after the recall, and have displayed no curiosity whatsoever about the accident that my daughter had in her Chrysler Jeep Commander prior to the recall. As the responding police noted, she obviously wasn’t going very fast and hadn’t been drinking or taking drugs. No-one, including her, knows how or why it happened. Since we were unaware of the ignition issue at the time, we didn’t think to ask if she could have reached for something or otherwise knocked the ignition.Nor do you wonder about the fact that she had the car towed and repaired after it continually stalled out, and yet it’s still stalling out. It’s done it when I’ve been driving the car myself.I’m enclosing a picture of my daughter for you. She is just finishing up her freshman year at **** University. She will be using her Jeep to commute to a summer job in ****, up twisting mountain roads—the “IMPORTANT! SAFETY RECALL NOTICE” received last summer notwithstanding. No wait, obviously I cannot allow her to do that. I now have no faith whatsoever in Chrysler, particularly after your patronizing and dismissive response. So I’ll have to drive her car so she can drive mine. I am not enclosing a picture of me, because I’m so damn angry that you’d never sleep again if you saw it, and I need you to sleep so that you can get your act together. It should go without saying that we will not be buying from Chrysler again. Meanwhile, you need to buy this Jeep from my daughter so that she can buy a safe car without first selling this one to some other sucker. It’s in pretty good condition after being almost totally re-built post-accident and having had a new $4,500 transmission with far less than 100,000 miles on the clock. PeopleClaim is a new way to resolve disputes online without lawyers or mediators. By inviting suggestions from the public, disputing parties get ideas that can lead to settlement – and the person(s) who contributed them can win a reward.
Here's what to do: Read the case (left side of page). Then go to the bottom of the page and enter your suggestion in the space provided. Click the Solution button.
Your suggestion will be sent to both parties and will post on the claim. If the two sides agree to settle based on your suggestion, you're eligible to win. Note: Cash rewards may be split among more than one person if settlement depends on ideas from more than one contributor. If you have a claim of your own to resolve, click here.
You can submit up to three solutions / rebuttal, you would like to settle or to be voted on.
