Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I rented a mobile home to Mr. Jacobs on September 30, 2013. Utilities, including electricity and gas, were in my name but were not furnished. I requested that Mr. Jacobs have each of these put into his name. He said the deposit was more than he could afford to pay at that time so they remained in my name. He had two small children one being an infant. He and his wife separated about 3 or 4 months ago. Cold weather came early. He is a welder and due to inclement weather could not work full time when raining. I purchased gas for the family on November 4, 2013 again on January 28, 2014 and the again on February 11, 2014 for a total off $1306. Mr. Jacobs paid $275 on his gas bill leaving a total owed to me of $1031.
Electricity bills are October 2013 through June 2014 totaled $555, which has been verified by Duke Energy. He paid $106. Leaving a total owed of $449.

Rent: Mr. Jacobs failed to pay rent for the months of April, May and June 2014 for a total off $900. Mr. Jacobs shared with me that he is working six and seven days per week as a welder. He is making a decent salary but still refuses to pay these bills.

I was very kind and patient with him. When I would make contact with him he always promised to come by and pay his bills but he never came and never paid. Eventually, I realized that he was not going to pay and I had eviction papers and monetary recoupment papers served so that I could rent the property to someone that would pay rent.

A hearing was held on July 15, 2014 at 10 AM in the office of the Caswell County magistrate of which he failed to appear. Mr. Jacobs owes a total off $2380 plus I had to pay two people to remove furniture from the rental property $75 each as they worked for approximately 8 hours. Furniture that they moved included two beds, two large dressers, a dining room table and four chairs, a sofa, a chair and an occasional table. They also removed all utensils pots and pans, dishes from the kitchen. All clothing was bagged into very large leaf and garden plastic bags. We removed all clothing from dresser drawers, closets and the clothes dryer these items were also bagged. I had the workers place all items outside and called Mr. Jacobs who came and picked up his belongings.

Any help would be appreciated."
