Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Capella University lured me into semester after semester of attempts at completing a doctoral program. Over and over I was told I had to do "just a few weeks more." Then they would switch committee members and I would have to start at another section. They once changed the program and stated I could not continue in the program I contracted for. I have documented comments from Mr. Clyburn, Constance Davis and many other staff of Capella University. This is just one quote from Constance Davis when I asked if there was any way I could get a discount due to them starting me over at the end of my doctoral journey.
"Any kind of a discount is highly unlikely. It is not unusual for people in dissertation at any university around the country to have to start over – perhaps several times. It is part of the iterative process here and everywhere."

Constance Davis, Ph.D.
Dissertation Advisor
School of Public Service Leadership

I want my money that was spent on my education - Over $100.000.00. I want my Ph.D back dated to 2005 and granted immediately. I want each complaint against this University investigated. I want a public apology and I want each student including myself who made it to the dissertation approval phase and was lied to and cheated and crooked into paying more and more money given full refunds and an expense paid trip to walk the Capella graduation stage to receive their much deserved and earned degree. I would like to Hold Constance Davis, Clyburn, the president of Capella University, and several faculty members financially responsible to me and each student who they illegally extorted money from."

  • I don't understand. How can Capella discontinue a program you signed up for? Could you explain how this works? For instance - did you sign up to do a degree in one thing and then Capella discontinued that degree? That doesn't seem right to me.

I could see that if a thesis was progressing badly,  an advisor might turn you in a different direction. But surely the advisor is there to help you from the start? If an advisor (or multiple advisors) kept telling you to do something differently and the result was that you had to continue paying endlessly for extra semesters, wouldn't that amount to 'churning'?
