Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My name is Angela Singleton. I took my 2001 Mazda van to Firestone Complete Auto Care (2211 Apalachee Parkway Tallahassee, Florida 32301) on September 19, 2016 to have a clicking noise checked out. The clicking noise was caused by a broken intake air tube. The mechanic replaced the intake air boot, according to service invoice. The mechanic discovered the reserve tank had a leak and recommended it be replaced. On September 21, 2016 a mechanic installed a new radiator reserve tank in the van. On September 26, 2016 the van's engine froze, because all of the coolant had leaked out of the new reserve tank. I filed a complaint with Firestone. On October 5, 2016 Firestone sent an inspector to Tuffy Auto Service Center (2501 N. Monroe St) where the van had been parked since September 26th. The inspector decided that the damage to the van's engine was not caused by Firestone mechanic's error. However, Firestone Customer Retention Department credited my Firestone credit card for $356.83, the total amount charged to install the new radiator reserve tank. On October 25, 2016 I had to pay Tuffy Auto Service $3,340.00 to install a used engine in the van, which is used for my lawn service business. For almost a month my son & I were unable to provide service to our customers due to an inoperable van. I'm seeking compensation from Firestone in the amount of $3,340.00, which includes loss wages; because the engine sustained damage days after the van was serviced at Firestone Complete Care. The van didn't have an engine problem prior to the installation of the new radiator reserve tank. Please see attached Firestone inspection report attached (claim # 2213714)"
