Claimant says:
"Three months ago I booked a trip with Online Vacation Center scheduled to depart March 3, 2015 for China and which included Trip Insurance with April Travel Protection. I hesitated to use April Travel Protection initially as they were not among the top companies I had looked at. However, it was the "preferred" travel insurance company for Online Vacation Center so I used them. Last week (October 18th) I was forced to cancel the trip due to continuing problems my wife was experiencing with her knee as a result of a total knee replacement a little over a year ago. She was fearful of the 18 hour flight to and from China. I knew that I would not receive a refund on the "non-refundable" $598 I had paid to Online Vacation Center but I was hoping for a refund from April Travel...and if not a refund, at least a credit towards a new, shorter trip. My insurance cost to April Travel was nearly $1200 ($1182.94).

When I called April Travel today I was told that I could get neither a refund nor even a credit towards a new trip I booked early this week since the new trip I booked was not through Online Vacation Center. I feel that the insurance police is between me and April Travel and has nothing to do with the travel company. I spoke with supervisors as well as the claimed "manager" and was told flatly no! I feel that this action should be illegal and if not illegal, it is certainly very consumer un-friendly. The cost of the trip insurance for the new trip is a fraction of the cost of the first trip I booked. I even asked if I could pay an additional fee to compensate April Travel for their inconvenience but was again told absolutely NO! Thus, it was necessary for me to purchase another policy through another company at a total cost of $656! Please help!"
