"LIES DECEIT, CORY SMITH WAS THE CONTACT PERSON, (561-529-4521) PERSONAL # , AMERICAN MOVING GROUP # IS 888-780-0172, WHEN I TALKED TO CORY HE TOLD ME MY MOVE FROM FLORENCE, WI TO HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE IS ARKANSAS, WOULD BE $5413,74 WELL LET ME TELL YOU iT WOUND UP BEING $11,413.74, UNLIMITED VAN LINES INC, OUT OF UNION CITY NJ 07087 (1-800-883-5505) WAS THE MOVERS, THEY ARRIVED LATE, NEEDED $3,000 AS A PAYMENT, AND DEMANDED ANOTHER $3,000 UPON ARRIVAL TO MY SURPRISE THEY WANTED CASH, i HAD TO GET A CASH ADVANCE FROM MY CREDIT CARD IN ORDER TO GET MY FURNITURE UNLOADED. THIS WAS LATE AT NIGHT SO i DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO INSPECT EVERYTHING, ONLY TO MY SURPRISE ALL THE DAMAGE WAS HORRENDOUS I WOULD ESTIMATE THE DAMAGE TO BE IN THE THOUSANDS. I CONTACTED THE COMPANY WITH NO RESULTS JUST A "EVERY" DAY RUN AROUND.

The claimant's settlement terms were rejected with the following explanation:

    "American Moving Group, Inc., is not a motor carrier and will not transport the consumers' household goods, but will coordinate and arrange for the transportation of the goods by an FMCSA authorized Motor carrier. AMG does not take possession of the items or move them. AMG role is to take the inventory from the customer by phone and using the industry accepted shipping chart, converts the items into weight/cubic feet to create a cost estimate based on the weight/cubic feet and distance of the move. AMG then sends the estimate to the consumer for their review and approval of the terms and conditions. Once the consumer approves the inventory and the services listed on the Binding Moving Estimate, the consumer electronically signs the estimate.
    Darlene Ziol contacted AMG for a moving quote to coordinate and arrange for the transportation of the consumers household goods from WI to AR. The cost estimate of $3,604.00 was prepared based on the weight of 11,677LBS, 1,668CF, with an inventory of 86 items, 142 pieces. The consumer authorized the Binging Moving Estimate on 05/20/2014 for a pick up window of 06/21-06/22/2014. A deposit of $1,429.00 was collected by AMG to coordinate and arrange for the transportation of the consumers household goods by FMCSA carrier Unlimited Van Lines, Inc.
    On 06/20/2014 our Quality Assurance Department reached out to this customer to confirm the inventory. Darlene did have additional inventory so a revised estimate was given for 14,556LBS, 2,079CF, with an inventory of 105 items, 287 pieces. The consumer authorized the Binging Moving Estimate on 06/20/2014.An additional deposit of $2,175.00 was collected by AMG to coordinate and arrange for the transportation of the consumers household goods by FMCSA carrier Unlimited Van Lines, Inc.
    Article 4 of the contract states “CUSTOMER HAS HIRED AMG AS A MOVING COORDINATOR/SHIPPER AGENT/BROKER AND NOT TO HANDLE OR OTHERWISE PARTICIPATE IN A MOVE AS A CARRIER IN ACTING AS A SHIPPER AGENT ONLY, AMG IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF THE CARRIER OR ITS EMPLOYEES OR AGENTS. CUSTOMER MUST PURSUE THE CARRIER FOR ALL CLAIMS FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE”
    The consumer called AMG on 07/07/2014 advising of the damages and the need to file a claim. She was informed that she would need to contact the carrier Unlimited Van Lines, Inc. and was given the contact number. As an effort to assist this consumer Customer Service sent an email to the carrier advising them of Darlene’s request to file a claim. Again, in order to resolve her issue regarding the damages to her household goods she will need to file a claim directly with the motor carrier Unlimited Van Lines, Inc.
