Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Today, Sunday, I came for a manicure and explained what I needed to have done. After 20 minutes, I was paired with a tech who did not know how to do my nails and proceeded to attack one nail with a file before I was able to intervene. I waited and watched while several people who have done my nails in the past were assigned to do pedicures. No one offered me any courtesy water or asked if I was okay. After another 20 minutes I was told that I had not explained what I needed [it was my fault] and that there was no manager on site that day. I asked who was opening and closing for the day and was told no one-- Obviously untrue. I left with no manicure and one ruined nail. This business is said to be the best in Cincinnati, and I have never had this type of disrespect in the over two years I have been a patron."

  • Hi Patricia

My name is John and I'm the owner of Ambiance. I'm so sorry you were not happy with your service today. After communicating with the nail technicians, this is what I understand and please correct me if I'm wrong. You came in and requested a manicure but you actually needed an acrylic fill and a Shellac gel color over the acrylics. At the time, the salon was a little busier than normal for a Sunday and there was no one available to take you in. Then Joe took you in and thought you wanted a regular manicure because he is only specialized in natural nails and does not do acrylic (we have many nails tech but only about 50% of our employees specialize in acrylic nails). Since there was no one else available, you had to wait until another nail tech, Andy, could take over but at the time you were so upset had requested to talk to the manager. Normally, we would have a manager on duty but unfortunately she couldn't make it in today; the receptionist called the manager but after you spoke to my manager you hung up right away and walked out without letting the manager handle the situation.
Patricia, I completely understand why you are upset but in the future if you are short on time then making an appointment will always be best, especially on the weekend. I would like to give you a free pedicure on your next visit as an apology for making you wait so long. Please call me on my cell at 513-240-4040. Thank you very much for being a great customer.
    John.

  • I did explain exactly what I wanted to the receptionist when I came in. In spite of this, two of the technicians who have done my nails in the past were assigned to customers who came in after me to do pedicures which Joe could have done. Andy walked past me twice on the way to the break room and offered his services after another technician went in to summon him because I was complaining after waiting over 30 minutes. When I complained to the receptionist she made it my fault which is obviously what was said to you. Now you should understand two things. One, I have been patronizing your salon for at least 2 years. I have have had an occasional poor mani or pedi, but I have never complained. Yet I have never been ignored or treated with disrespect by receptionist or techs until Sunday. I have been a walk in customer every time I have come and I know that Thursday afternoons are usually very busy. When it was busy, I have returned on a different day. It is difficult for me to make "grooming" appointments including hair and nails because I am a pastor with family demands to juggle.

I do appreciate your speedy response and will take you up on a free pedi in the future, but I need something done for my hands immediately.
