Claimant says:
"Yvonne Chen is a dentist who guaranteed a beautiful lower permanent partial. I was asked to leave a $2000.00 deposit on the first visit, the total cost was $4000.00. After several visits the partial still was disastrous, the teeth did not align correctly and the color was atrocious. It was so bad her assistant suggested I find someone else because Dr. Chen only wanted the money and did not care how they looked. The last time I had went to her office she had a man there and told me to go with him. She said he was taking me to his lab at a location I never heard of. I refused to go as I did not know this man (he was dressed in blue jeans and a polo shirt). Dr. Chen was angry and began making negative remarks toward me. I left and said I would not be back. I asked for the $2000.00 back and I was told I would not get it back. I reported her to the police and the dental board and I was advised to take this to small claims court. There was no contract involved. Thank you, Ann Ross, RN, EMT"

  • In this situation, you should get a second opinion, and get any sort of proof the second dentist can provide (for example, x-rays or some form of scan that shows that the alignment is not correct). After obtaining this, you could send it to the original dentist with a letter detailing what is exactly wrong, requesting your money back or correction (putting something in writing is always better). If she continues to not respond (or not respond here, also), small claims is definitely a good arena for this type of case.
