Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I been with Verizon every since Verizon purchased Alltel. I never been late with my payment. I just recently had a problem with my phone, I was not under a contract, I always had insurance. I was paying $50.00 a month. I had 700. Min also was in my circle up to 5 people no minute was used anytime you call a person in the circle, also I had texting etc. Verizon convince to put me on a prepaid plan. I told Verizon I have to have a phone at least good as I had cause I wear reading glasses and I need to be able to see the screen and details ' I had never experience in my life, told me how great the phone was that was in the package. IN LESS TIME THAN A MONTH VERIZON HAS CHARGED ME FOR RESTOCKING FEES, PUT ME ON A CONTRACT WANTING ME TO PAY $80.00 a MONTH TO SATISFIED ME. IN LESS THAN A MONTH VERIZON HAS CHARGED ME OVER $300.00 DOLLARS
I AM SO UNHAPPY WITH THE WAY VERIZON HAS TESTED MY INTELLIGENCE. THE WAY VERIZON HAS TREATED ME \IS AS I WAS A NEW CUSTOMER JUST WALKING THOUGH THE DOOR AS THEY TELL ME THEY UNDERSTAND BUT STAIDLY RIPPING ME OFF. I HAD BEEN WITH ALLTEL SINCE 1993 UNTIL VERIZON TOOK OVER, I HAD A PROBLEM WITH SERVICE, PROBLEM WITH PRODUCT,PROBLEM WITH PRACTICES,PROBLEM SLICKLY TRYING TO PUT ME ON A CONTRACT OVER MY HEAD. I ALWAYS BEEN A EXCELLENT PAYING CUSTOMER, ONE OF THE BEST."

  • Verizon is only for the money, they don't care about there long time customers,I was treated as if i was a new customer, and I had been with Verizon for years, every since Verizon purchase Alltel.

  • Unfortunately, Jennifer is correct. The plan they put you on is probably a great plan for other people. If you do not need data or use the phone extensively for texting or calling, most of their plans are not a good fit. Some of the money you paid might be for a partial month and one month ahead. That has been my experience. Hopefully included in that somewhere was the price of the phone. If you signed a contract, you are obligated to that contract. However, if you are truly unhappy and feel you have been mislead, ask for a manager and discuss the situation. Explain that until this point, you have been a satisfied customer and also a loyal customer who has been fiscally responsible in paying in a timely manner. Explain that you would like to stay with them if they would consider changing you to a plan or prepaid situation you feel more comfortable with. Ask them if they would please waive the cancellation charges (or reduce it by half; although it should be prorated no matter what) since you feel the situation could have been better handled. Hopefully you speak with someone who can/will help you out. Just be prepared to stick out the contract if they are unwilling to let you out of the contract or pay the cancellation fee if they will not waive it.

  • Unfortunately, cell phone plans have changed over the years. If you had wanted to stay on your old plan, and the cell phone you had would no longer work with the service, it should have been explained to you that you could pay retail for the cell phone in replacement. Retail costs for cell phones can be very expensive, which is how the cell phone companies get you into a contract with a lesser payment. It sounds like they signed you up for the minimum plan with the price you are quoting in your claim. Getting out of a cell phone contract, however, can be very expensive, as there are early cancellation fees associated with the cancellation of your contract. If you can find another cell phone carrier, they may be willing to buy out your existing contract.
