Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"During April, 2012, I entered into a written agreement with Verizon for phone, Internet and TV service for an additional 24 month term $65.98 per month. Following my acceptance, Verizon unilaterally imposed another set of terms that added significantly to the 24 month cost. Further, in the event that I chose to terminate the agreement and move to a competitor, I would be assessed an onerous early termination penalty. I have written to several Verizon employees, as well as their CEO and have filed complaints with the BBB and FCC. Verizon refuses to honor their original 24 month agreement."

  • Do you happen to have both the original written agreement and the new terms that they sent you? Posting those here, redacting personal information, can help in reviewing your claim. Beyond that, if you signed a written agreement that states certain terms, and they attempt to materially change the terms such as the price, you should not be bound to an early termination fee. You stated that attempts to contact the company via other means and filing other complaints have had no success. Unfortunately, in this situation, you may need to resort to a court action, it seems, to get their attention. You should take a look at the small claims procedures for your state and county (if applicable) and see what you would need to do to get a court action started in this situation.

  • A written agreement is a written agreement. Small claims court could remind them of that.
