Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I had and insurance claim last August from hurricane Irene. When I recieved my money I had to send it to the Mortgage holder. As I got the damages repaired they sent me some dispersement. But never the amounts that I was spending. I had alittle more work to get done but we painted and repaired windows ourselves. They still owed me around 2,400 to 2,500. Because my end reciepts were not 2,400 hundred they kept 2,000 and added it to my principal. They still didn't send me they money for the reciepts I provided that were over 400.
I spoke with a lady in the claims department named Candis that said they could do this by law. I recieved no documentation or anything. They didn't call or anything. Please help me get my money."

    We are sorry to hear of the damages that occurred to your home and we are willing to work with you to ensure the repairs are completed. Upon review of this claim, you received a total of $9959.49 from your insurance company. To date, VMF has received receipts in the amount of $8286.06 (for the roof repair) and $411.00 for the kitchen range hood purchase (did not include installation.) A total of 11 letters were sent and 8 phone calls made to contact you regarding the claims process from 12/15/11 through 6/29/12. When the requested information was not received, $2481.56 was applied to the principal balance of your loan on 719/12. We are willing to pull those funds and reissue half to continue the repairs. We have photos of the replaced metal roof and partial repairs made to the window in the living room. We will need the completed pictures of the casing added to the windows, ceiling repairs/painting in the living room, dining room and kitchen along with the replacement of the range hood in the kitchen. All claim funds must be accounted for, therefore we will need receipts in the amount of $1673.43 for all materials for the interior repairs as well. Our goal is to ensure that the claim funds are used to repair the home to its original condition and that there are no balances owed to supply stores or contractors.
