Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I gave Mr Troy Labani, $6500 to fix our storm affected house, since 8/29/12. He cashed the check the same date it was issued and absconded with the money. He made repeated promises but did not show up to fix the roof or do any work on the building."

  • I have to agree claimant.. This is NOT the first claim against Troy B. Labani. I for one have been ripped off from him too. Funny thing is, just about the same amount of money.. He just keeps doing it.

  • First, was there a contract (written) in place? Next, did you investigate to ensure that this individual was licensed as a general contractor in your state? If he is licensed, then most states have some form of "bonding" insurance that a general contractor is required to carry. Also, have you reported this "criminal act" to your local law enforcement agency? If you have not, you need to do so in a timely fashion (as most states have a two year statue of limitations) in place. I would then check to see if this particular individual was licensed in your state and if so, file a formal complaint with the licensing agency and submit a copy of the cancelled check as proof that they took your money illegally and seek to go after their "bond".
