Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"POS T VAC is a company that markets its product which is used by men that have erectile dysfunction. I received information through the US MAIL. The device would be covered by Medicare. There was no price disclosed, no safety warnings. I called the toll free number and the operator that answered wanted my name, address and insurance information. A few weeks later I received a phone call from POS T VAC saying that my insurance covered the product. Some time latter I received the POS T VAC. Well, I tried it and you have to put this pump over your penis and put a ring around the tube and slide it down to the base of the penis. I did that and the pain from being so tight was just excruciating. I called the company and they told me the ring was too small and they mailed me one that was larger but till painful and I couldn’t bear the pain
for intercourse. The device was useless.
Then to add insult to injury, POS T VAC mailed me a bill for $500 and indicated that my insurance paid $299.32 of the inflated bill.
POS T VAC sells the exact same product at Walgreens Pharmacy and Amazon.com for $149.99. So it appears, they are not only defrauding Medicare, but the consumers as well.
Now they are pushing it to the max by trying to squeeze $76.36 more from me.
Federal auditors recently issued a report charging a Kansas-based medical manufacturer with potentially paying out more than $4 million in fraudulent Medicare claims for “male vacuum erection systems,” more commonly known as “penis pumps.” In turn, the auditors requested that the company reimburse all the money to the federal government and “implement policies and procedures to help ensure that it collects and maintains the required documentation.”
