"Paul Edgecomb, M.D. was my treating physician for several years, in 2006 I was treated for pain when urinating, pain in my left lower back and occasional blood in my urine. This man ran lab work on my urine, blood and had several CT Scans performed for the next two years. He always said my labs were normal and the CT Scans were negative. In January 2008 I was hospitalized for abdominal pain where more X-rays, CT Scans, and MRI's were run and then discharged with a diagnosis of "You are Fine" by the hospitalist associated with Thunderbird Internal Medicine, and Paul Edgecombe, M.D..
For the next few weeks I was throwing up more and more everyday and unable to keep even water down, my husband took me day after day to the Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, finally on or about the 10th of February and nearly ten days of being denied care because I did not have a fever, Bruce spoke to the ER Doctor. He told the Doctor if I was denied care again without any tests being run he would have the Doctor arrested for murder as I was sick. My stomach was swollen as though I was pregnant even though I have had a partial Hysterectomy in 1988, the ER Doctor made a comment that I was probably pregnant. He admitted me to the ER and they ran blood tests and did a CT Scan. I was admitted to the hospital within the hour and after several days of antibiotics I was operated on by Dr. De Soto, and was informed my gallbladder had blown up and there were several nickel to quarter size gallstones present.
I was in and out of the hospital several times during the next five or six weeks when at one point while in the X-ray department two young students from a local college tore the tubing of a bag that was for drainage of the bile duct tube. They placed tape around the tear and said nothing to anyone. During the last hospitalization I mentioned to the nurse that the bag was leaking bile all over me and that there was a tear in the tubing from the incident. They had the shift supervisor come in and repair the bag and he made a comment that I needed to be more careful in the future when draining the bag. I replied that I was not the individual who tore the tubing in the first place, it was done by the X-ray department staff shortly after the surgery.
After that incident I was getting ready to be discharged when three doctors and two nurses came in and stood at the end of the hospital bed. My husband, Bruce was sitting in a chair next to the bed, when after several minutes went by and these five people looked like one of their best friends just died. I asked what is wrong, you guys look terrible, one of the doctors said they found something in one of my recent CT Scans that was not there the week prior. Then they all started to leave, I blurted out what could possibly be worse than what I have just been through. In a joking manner I asked them to stop and tell me what was wrong, as they were acting like I had cancer or something.
They all stopped and looked back with a look as though they were relieved that I knew. At that instant I said are you kidding me, you have got to be joking. The hospitalist who was in charge of my care said I had a "Fast growing tumor in my left kidney and it had never been in any other CT Scans." They felt that it was Renal Cell Carcinoma. I was stunned and asked when the surgery to remove it was being scheduled, not at this time you just had major surgery and you are to weak. You need to see a oncologist.
In May 2008 I had surgery to remove part of my left kidney by Dr. Stewart a urology surgeon.
Paul Edgecomb had decided that he was not going to tell his patient she had a tumor in her left kidney in 2006, after telling me I was fine and there was no reason why I should have pain in my left lower back. This man lied to his patient, then lied about the existence of the tumor and the gallstones, as a result I came very close to dying.
I have never run a temperature higher than 100.8 degrees and I have in fact had a Doctor in Wyoming shake my hand stating that he wanted to meet the most "liveliest Dead person" he had ever met when his assistant recorded my temperature at 95.1 degrees. There seems to be a serious problem in the medical community that states everyone has a normal temperature of 98.6 degrees when they are well. In actuality that is the average body temperature, which means there are those of us who when we feel good have normal body temperature of 95.1 degrees and those who may have 100.1 degrees. This means that when my temperature is at 99.9 I am very sick and the person who run's 100.1 who may come in with a 101 degree temperature is actually not sick, but that individual will be admitted to the hospital while I am sent home to die.
This means that a person who is vomiting non-stop and doubled over in pain with a temperature of 99.9 degrees and who looks pregnant really should not be turned away without any lab work done at all. They should not have to hear ignorant comments to the affect that they are just wanting pain medication then shoved out the door.
Now I have been given a document from Arrowhead Hospital just over two months ago, that was dated in 2009 that was sent to Arrowhead Hospital by Banner Thunderbird Hospital in 2009 while I was a patient in Arrowhead Hospital with a diagnosis of "Renal Cell Carcinoma with Metastasis to the Lung." I have never heard that diagnosis cross the lips of my then doctor while in the hospital or after being discharged by the hospital and having follow-up care by Paul Edgecomb, M.D..
You may wonder why I do not refer to Paul Edgecomb as a doctor, well it is simple in my opinion he is not a doctor. He has made it almost impossible for me to get treatment anywhere in the city of Phoenix or the surrounding area. I put my trust in an individual and asked him to provide medical care when I went to see him what he did is unreal even today. My trust is non-existent and at that I am terrified to go see any doctor.
The doctors I have seen recently continue to comment about my unfounded fear and ranting's about what was done and then they too say I am fine. With this diagnosis of 2009 and knowing I have had "Zero" treatment, is my fear unjustified. I do not believe so. I believe that Banner Thunderbird failed by not stating the truth and Paul Edgecomb failed by straight out lying to his patient and refusing to treat a life threatening illness such as cancer not once, but twice by these individuals this is beyond my imagination as to why it was done.
I was on a lot of pain medication at this time and I was called a drug addict, do you think a drug addict would ask the nurse, doctor or anyone else why they are in pain and not for pain medication. I was continuously asking why am I in so much pain. Do not give me something for the pain if I do not need it, please treat the cause of the pain. Since I do not take any more than extra strength tylenol six times a day now and I am in pain every second of every day I would not say I was an addict ever, especially since I quit cold turkey. I have had more doctors offer pain medication while saying "you are Fine" then ever before, if I am so Fine why push the pain medication on someone who is healthy and has nothing wrong? At that I am allergic to Morphine, Methadone, Oxycontin, and oxycodone my question is why ask if I want something they know I am allergic too.
I know that I have two fractured vertebra L-2 and L-3 from 2010 and neuropathy in my feet and legs that keeps me up all night because it has gone untreated. By the way none of the lab tests have ever shown a positive overdose or more medication than what was prescribed by my doctors.
I recommend you get the Medical records from Paul Edgecomb's former practice Thunderbird Internal Medicine, located in Glendale, Arizona, just so I do not get accused of creating a document that is in their computer. If these individuals did their professional best care I might not try to pursue this incident but none of them did."
