Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"All I did was enter Uhaul, in Google, and "Moving APT" called me, asking me if I needed moving services. That's where the five month nightmare began. I was led to believe that APT was the actual moving company, over a month later, after everything was signed and payments were made, I find out they were a broker company, and Moving APT, gave me to M.A.D.E Moving and Storage Inc, for the actual move. M.A.D.E Moving and Storage, tried to pick up my belongings in the darkness of night, M.A.D.E Moving and Storage told me they could estimate weight within 150 lbs., and my belongings would be delivered within 3 - 5 days. M.A.D.E Moving picked up delivery October 27, 2015. When the delivery wasn't made I started calling. I was advised my shipment would cost $1,000.00 more than what Moving APT quoted, and they didn't know where my shipment was or when it could be delivered. It was cleared that they were holding my possessions hostage. After agreeing to pay the extra $1,000.00, my delivery was made November 17, 2015, at 12:00 midnight. Before they unloaded, I had them reweigh my shipment, and after the unloading, had it reweighed again. There was a 1,640 lb discrepancy, favoring M.A.D.E Moving. I was told not to worrying, that I would be compensated for 0.60 cents per pound, totaling $984.00, and all I had to do was put in a claim. Their claim process was the most un-usurer friendly claim process. After spending, to make an enormous amounts of copies that were needed plus postage, over 30 days later I received a suggestive settlement of 62.00. I sent three different 3-mails to three different places, letting them know of my disappointment, and all for those emails went the same email address, realizing their claim process was just a formality and another fraudulent process.
I have everything needed to exposed this for what it is. What hurts is I believed them, trusted them and needed their services."

Additional Communication Between Claimant and Moving Apt Hide
  • Feb 27, 2016, Claiming party added:
  • There is no way I'm accepting $62.50, when I'm owed $984.00. I increased my shipping weight with Mario, of 1,000 pounds before MADE Moving even came to my house. I paid for 5,348 pounds on that second moving estimate that was sent. Before the unloading to my new address, I followed that truck to a weigh station by my house and paid to have it weigh, and once that truck was unloaded, I again, followed that truck to that same weight station, and had that truck weigh again. You are wrong, you owe me for 1,640 pounds, which was deliberately over estimated, and that comes to $984.00. You need to remember, when MADE Moving came to pick up my belongings from Minnesota, they already had another delivery on that same truck that they loaded my items on! How is it that you can believe them, and not what my weigh tickets show? My total weight was 5,520 pounds, not 7,160!

  • I disagree with the explanation / grounds provided

    "Ms. Townsend,

Moving APT apologizes that you feel there was an issue or an overcharge with your move. Upon being made aware that you felt this way, we immediately had our Customer Service Manager reach out to you, upon which you were advised that we would have your claim re-opened and your request investigated.

Your carrier has had your claim re-opened and re-evaluated as agreed. Unfortunately, the charges were in fact valid, and therefore no further credit is due.

Your weight tickets have been reviewed both by our management team and your carrier's, as well as re-reviewed by a third party Claims Department. Upon review by all parties, the weight tickets are authentic and have not been altered. Your inventory paperwork shows that there were additional items than what your quote was based on, and your charges were based on exactly what the weight came out to be. There was no fraudulence on any of these documents.

If you are still unsatisfied with your move, we can request an addition to your claim from our, Moving APT's, personal good faith account from upper management...not as a credit due, since as stated, no merit is found in this claim, but just as a show of good faith, because we take pride in each of our customer's satisfaction. It would not be the $984 you requested, but an amount in the range of the amount your claim came to be.

Please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800-360-0037 ext. 132 if you would like us to submit a good faith request for you."
