Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On May 17, 2012, Mary along with her male assistant of Look Carpet cleaned the carpet in my home. They plugged an extension cord into an outlet in our garage to operate the generator in their van to do the job. After the job was completed, Mary and I was talking and I watched as she/Mary yanked/unplugged the cord with such force that it blew out the circuit breaker disabling the power in the garage, hallway and bathroom. In good faith, I paid her for the job anyway, trusting that she would reimburse us for the cost once the problem was corrected which she stated. I, otherwise would have held her payment and deducted the cost once the problem was corrected. The repair was done on the same day at a cost to us of $120, because we had no power in the areas indicated. On the following day, I made a phone call to Mary as she had asked us to do and gave her this information expecting to receive a check in the mail for reimbursement. She began to make excuses based on advice she had gotten from her retired neighbor regarding this issue. I have attempted to resolve this matter in person, written communication and by phone which resulted in a no comment/response and hanging up the phone in my ear. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I want Look Carpet to reimburse us the $120 immediately that we spent to repair the problem they caused by improperly disconnecting an extension cord from the outlet. When they came to my home, the socket worked fine and when they left it was burnt out and we had NO Power. I don't understand how she/Mary can think she is not responsible! I paid her $160 to clean the carpet and had to spend an additional $120 to get my power restored, costing me a total of $280. Can this really be a CREDIBLE BUSINESS? I DON'T THINK SO! She could have even offered a free carpet cleaning or something just for the inconvenience; but nothing but nag, nag, nag! It definitely is not someone I would reccommend to another customer after this unpleasant experience. How do I get my money back? What right's do I have as a customer?"
