Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My car quit on me December 24, 2016, but it started back up after sitting for about 15 minutes. I had the car looked at by a mechanic and he told me that it was showing 2 different auto codes for my car. He provided them to me and I told him that I would take the car to the dealership where it was purchased for the repairs and he said to let them know what the codes were. I provided that information to Landers but was told by Landers that they would perform their own test on December 29,2017. I was told that they would let me know what the problem was and the cost. I got a call on January 3,2017 I was told that I need to have a new computer for the car and that it cost $900+. I said are you sure and they said yes because that is not what I was originally told by the other mechanic. I said I would pay for that if that's the problem. I didn't hear from them until they called for me to pick my car up on January 9,2017. I immediately noticed that my preset radio stations were not off, which is the case whenever the computer/battery is disengaged. I also noticed that I didn't have an oil change sticker placed on my windshield but I paid for that. I became suspicious at that moment about their business practices but I knew that if nothing had been done that the engine light would come back on so I didn't say anything initially upon picking up my car because I would like to believe that they would do honest and trustworthy work being a business. I drove the car and the engine light came on within 48 hours after picking up the car which had been in their possession now for 11 days. The car was purchased here and so you would think that it would not take this long to repair a car that you manufacture and sold me, someone should be more knowledgeable about the car. I took the car there for that reason. I called them to inform them about the light and was told that I couldn't bring the car back until the next day. I took the car back and had to ask for a rental because no one offered and I had already been without a car for 11 days and needed car to go to work and I care for a handicapped family and need a car. I got a call on January 13,2017 and was told that it was the problem told to me by the other mechanic and that it would cost $600+ to fix. I then asked to speak with the general manager because I felt like I was being taken advantage of financially but was routed to a voice recording. I emailed him but someone responded to the email so I guess he forwarded to someone else. I talked with other people about this matter and was advised to call the number in the back of the book that came with the car and to not continue to communicate with the business anymore. I am paying for a rental car from this business at $20 a day due to not being able to speak with the general manager about this issue. I was told by the other mechanic to pursue this issue because they took my money and did not fix the problem or put a new computer in the car. The problem was told to them and they said that wasn't the problem and charged me for something else and now want to go back to the problem that was told to them. I was told that a new computer was put in the car but the other mechanic said that if the radio stations were not reset to the manufacturing settings then more than likely you don't have a new computer in the car either. I now even the question if they changed my oil following all that has been done. The service person that called me told me that couldn't perform the test on my car until I replaced the computer which is not true because the car had been tested already and can be tested as long as there is fire going to the engine meaning not having a dead battery. This can also be found on YOU TUBE. I also was shown videos by the other mechanic as to what I was supposed to have done to my car from the 2 auto codes provided. I should not have been inconvenienced like this. I just want my car repaired and want this company to restore my faith in them doing business with integrity, honesty"
