Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I Purchased my RR Evoke in March 2017 at Sam Linder Range Rover Group of Monterey in Seaside, Ca. Within the week the brakes were making a horrible noise. I called the dealership ASAP they couldn't get my car in for repairs for a few weeks. The attempt to fix it took several visits. I called the BBB and they FINALLY fixed it almost 1 year to the date of purchase. One Year of hassle! I had to audio the problem, email it to Range Rover Corp. and to the dealership. What an inconvenience. Back and Forth to the dealership. Driving a $60k + Range Rover that sounded like it is falling a part!! Most Embarrassing! Namely for me because I'm driving this bucket of falling off bolts but also for the "Range Rover" name! Then the windshield started to leak that same year! The RR associate in Service(Chris) commented, "Well we have had a lot of rains this year"... What?! Really?!! Oh my mistake I didn't realize that it was okay for windshields to leak when you purchase a Range Rover. What was I thinking! They replaced the windshield. The trunk release wouldn't work, either from the key, drivers side release button or from the back trunk button. It would get stuck half way. One occasion it was completely up, as I reached in to get something the trunk came down on my head! I told the RR associate (Gene) in Service about that situation. He did get the car in within the next few weeks and took care of the problem. Then the passenger window was scraping its way up and down when opening and closing. They did fix that. Then! The most recent was the dash. It made so much noise! Disrupting conversation with anyone especially when on the phone. Everyone commented on the noise. And then the real noise errupted! The whole drivers side sounded like I was running a Weed Eater! Seriously! Am I driving a Range Rover or Jed Clampetts Jaloppy?! I am embarrassed and exhausted, worried What's next? After speaking to Akiah (?) with Range Rover Corporate of North America this morning. Akiah stated that, "You have only brought the RR Evoke 20 qualified days in less than the 18month or 18k miles so their is nothing they can do at this time because the "defects" were not life threatening". So I asked, "you mean I have to get in an accident in order for RR to do something about this?" She replied with, "Well did the brakes go out?" Followed by "we can offer you a one month 'in good faith' lease or car payment" if that's something you would be interested in?" I asked for the person above her to speak to and she said, "the BBB". So here I am. I bought a lemon! Within 5 minutes Akiah telephoned me back saying that they would give me 2 months of car payments but it would be in good standing or shall I say the understanding that I would not notify the BBB. I have spoken to many people who have purchased Range Rovers even a gentleman that worked for Steven's Creek Range Rover and he said ... "Erlinda, you got a lemon". A very 'well to do' woman in Monterey just traded her 2018 Land Rover Range Rover for the all new Velar. I told her about my Evoke problems and she said she has never had or heard of such issues with the Range Rovers, and she felt that I bought a Lemon. Its unheard of to take a new car, RR or otherwise, to be serviced that many times. 20 + times, not 20 days!!! What's next?!! I was also advised to contact RR Corporate by Oscar, General Manager of Sam Linder of Monterey to discuss a possible buy back. Hope you can help. Thank you Erlinda Key."
