Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"At the end of the year 2007 I bought a laptop HP Pavilion dv series 6000 from Circuit City. The equipment lost the ability to connect wireless due to a design defect of the "mother board" and the Nvidia processor.
I contacted HP customer service by phone about my problem and the representative told me I have to send the equipment to a HP repair facility and pay out of my pocket more than $300.00
I told the representative that I am not think I have to pay for a defect the own firm knows is because a flaw in the design and manufacturing of the product.
I can understand an electronic equipment may fail to perform due different causes, but in this case there are thousand of laptops like mine with the same problem.
HP was aware since 2007 of the problem and made an extension on the warranty time up to two years, but this was not communicated to the customers.
If they (the company) recognize the problem as a defect, not a random failure, why they do not do what any other manufacturer do: recall de defective article and fix the problem to protect the consumer.
I demanded a free repair of my equipment and the company refuses to do."
