Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I entered into a construction contract with Greater Bergen Community Action to replace all the windows in my one family home, located in Paterson, NJ, replace bath tub and tile in bathroom and fix an area by the radiator in the dining room. The Dept. of Community Development agreed to assist me as the owner, to provide a property improvement deferred payment loan in the amount of $15,400.00. Greater Bergen was paid $15,400 to complete this work. They were supposed to complete the job within a timeframe which they did not meet. It took several months to finish and they used sub-standard material (Example; the contract stated I would select the tub, the contractor selected a cheap tub and they refused the replace window sills where needed and used material that has already showed cracks). They removed the radiators in the dining room and bathroom. To make a long story short, the radiator in the dining room is currently leaning over because it was not put back properly and it felll through the existing wood floor to the forebearing floor. It is extremely dangerous leaning at this moment. I am a 66 year old retired widow and intend on providing foster care for toddlers in need and I cannot pass inspection due to this leaning radiator, it may fall. Greater Bergen Community Action was contacted and to date have refused to correct this problem. According to the contract I have a one year guarantee on their workmanship and they are not honoring this.

I want to make all potential customers aware of their shoddy work and refusal to honor their contracts. I would recommend you do not do business with them, they have proven to be not trustworthy nor good business people. They will take the money and run and not honor their contract."
