Claimant's opinion: a. I knew when I arrived on November 8, 2010, that for the first two weeks I was paying their weekly rate. My first two weeks cost me slightly less than $800.
b. Shortly after, I told them I would like to stay on a long-term, monthly basis and asked what the price would be. They told me I was paying the monthly rate. I continued to pay approx. $1600/mo for the rest of my stay, which was 5 months.
c. I found out 5 months later through many of the other guests that I was paying $800 more per month than the other customers did for the same size room. From separate sources, I was told that they were paying about $825/mo. Some of the guests I befriended were paying $1200 for their larger King size suites.
d. The guests recommended I go ask for a discounted monthly rate. I asked their area manager and he offered me $10 less per day on March 9, 2011.
e. I then inquired about why they had charged me double the price of their other monthly customers the past 5 months and the Area Manager got very angry and offensive. He asked if I was accusing him of pocketing the money and immediately lost his temper and asked if I was threatening him. I most certainly was not. I was asking about the previous months I had been ripped off. The childish man thought I was accusing him of pocketing the money personally, which I am starting to wonder about given his overreaction. He then told me I had to leave on March 11th. I then mentioned something to the person next to me who overheard this and he came back and yelled some more as if I was talking to him. I told him I wasn’t talking to him and he continued being unprofessional, rude, and abrasive. The guests next to me who had overheard this actually yelled back to him saying, “He wasn’t talking to you!”
f. That was one of the most bizarre interactions I have ever had with a manager of a business, let alone a hospitality business.
g. Since then, I have received nothing but lies from the hotel manager, Teddy Tedesco. I had to call twice to get in contact with her and received nothing but false information about the situation:
i. I was told the monthly renters who paid approximately $800 less/month than me for the same rooms were given discounts from corporations. I know renters there who did not have corporate sponsorship
ii. She then said that the monthly renters were there before me… I know of two sets of guests who arrived after me who paid $800 less than me for the same rooms
iii. She then said I know nothing about the hotel business. $775 x 5 months is almost $4,000 that I did not have to pay and there is no excuse for it. I can understand paying slightly higher because I have more income, etc. than some people, but almost double the price for the same length of stay and service is too much.
iv. She had told me I could have stayed after March 11th, but because I had called their corporate office, she would not let me. I do not even know if corporate had even contacted the hotel because she said this pretty quickly after I actually called. I do know they had overheard me on the cell phone with a friend who told me to call corporate immediately and I was making sure I heard him right correctly over the phone. I was having this phone conversation while I was walking out of the building to go to work. I was insulted because the area manager stopped me and asked me in a demeaning manner if I was talking to my father (like I was a little kiddy calling my daddy to tell on him) and I said no, it was a friend. I depended upon the location for work. I now have gone through much trouble to be able to attend work as a result of his “eviction”.
v. The area manager later wanted me to tell him that I did not think he was stealing or ripping me off if I was going to stay. I responded by saying that I was not implying that he himself was personally stealing from me, but that I did get ripped off. At that point, he angrily said, “alright, you’re leaving on the 11th”. I found that whole interaction childish and an example of how little he values his guests. Their busy season had just started and they were at full occupancy so he did not care if he acted professionally with me.

I did not even receive an apology, which I thought was very poor of them, and was finally able to get some compensation after pushing back, but I had to argue. I was almost going to leave at that point, but decided later just to put up with because it was conveniently close to my place of work.
c. Prostitutes and other unsavory characters
d. Large cockroaches found in room where I was told I could get a new room the next day and had to sleep in the same room that night.

Claimant's opinion: this is a quick draft I made up about my experience there. My biggest concern is the dishonest sales portion and the fact that their managers did not appear to show much interest in rectifying problems and addressing concerns.
