Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My wife and I rented a car from Dollar Rental at the Phoenix airport on April 11,2012, I was asked if we wanted to add my wife to the list of drivers authorized for the rental, I added my wife and was never told that there would be a $10.90 charge added per day. It only cost me $11.61 for the car rental per day I would never have paid $10.90 for an extra driver if I was told that there was a cost to me for adding another driver. I called up the company and told them of the problem and they said that I signed an agreement and that was all they could do, I was later told that they would give this information to the manager of the rental office and they would be calling me back by tuesday5/4/12, no one called. Please realize that most people dont read all agreements when they are at an airport and faced with all the other confusions which go along with travel. Please help me on this case.

  • Thank you for allowing Dollar Rent A Car the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

    Please accept my personal apology for any misunderstanding regarding the Additional Driver Fee on your rental. Our records indicate your reservation was made via Hotwire.com. Review of their site shows there is a disclosure when booking which states: “You will have the option to add additional drivers to your contract at the rental counter for an additional charge.” This information is also disclosed on our website at www.dollar.com. Examination of your rental agreement confirms the charge was disclosed on the accepted optional items screen, as well as included in the estimated grand total screen, to which you agreed before signing the electronic signature pad. I am sincerely very sorry you were not pleased with this additional charge. Unfortunately, since you did agree to the charge in multiple areas of the contract, as well as had the full benefit of an additional authorized driver for the duration of the rental, we find this fee to be valid and must respectfully decline your request for reimbursement.

    We value your business, Mr. Mandile. Your comments will be forwarded to the General Manager a the location in an effort to prevent any future misunderstandings. Please let me know if there is anything else I can check for you. Have a great day and thank you for choosing Dollar Rent A Car!

  • My wife was right next to me during the transaction the represenitive never told us about another charge for an extra driver. I will contact the better business bureau and inform them of this situation.
