Claimant's opinion: The Dadeland Dodge service department conned me into paying for repairs to my 2004, 4-cylinder, diesel engine Jeep Liberty knowing that the problem could not be fixed. When they attempted to repair the car, they found "new problems" to fix. They made me pay $5154.19 in repairs and never fixed the problem. They said that they connected the car to a computer and my Jeep had "no code," so they could not properly diagnose and fix the car. The sales manager said that my best option would be to trade in the vehicle for a new car. After placing the complaint to Chrysler, they referred me to another Chrysler dealer Spitzer Dodge in Homestead. After 2 years in service between the Dadeland and Homestead dealers (January 1012 to January 2014), I finally got the car back. Three days later, while driving, the car shut off. Allstate towed the vehicle back to the dealer in Homestead. The new diagnosis was that the engine blew out and that they could not do absolutely anything for me. After contacting Chrysler again, their response was that the incident was in no way related to the previous repair. They claimed the issue was my responsibility because I was the one driving the car after they returned a working vehicle. Three days! On top of that, the service manager told me that the reason why the engine failed was because the engine overheated. When I asked him what provoked the engine to overheat, he was unable to explain and if I wanted to know what exactly happened, I would have to pay an additional service charge! I did not use the Jeep for the TWO years the it was in the dealer. To this day I still paying full coverage insurance for my car. They reiterated that the best option would be to trade in the car. The sales representative offered me only $1,600 because the dealer needed $5,000 to put in a working engine to resell it. $1,600 is unacceptable for the amount of money that I have spent on this empty investment! I am very disappointed because when I purchased the Jeep, the dealer offered this car to me as "the best" because it was a 4-cylinder Diesel engine (something no one knows how to fix) and guaranteed its longevity. Now, I know that the Chrysler company builds cars that are short term, the mechanics employed by the dealer have no idea how to fix. The dealers (Dadeland Dodge and Spitzer Dodge), are only interested in making another sale, and that my satisfaction is the least of their worries.
"After reviewing our records, the work that was completed was done properly and required which was based after diagnosing the concern from the customer. The issues were all completed and repaired with the customers consent and he was fully aware of what was being done throughout the process, plus he had to authorize all the repairs prior to doing them as well as agreeing to the cost related to complete them. There were also a few repairs that were done at no cost to the customer to help him out. A few issues were discovered that the customer denied to have repaired and when the vehicle left the dealer it was in working order with the initial repairs completed. The other repairs that were detailed and expressed to the customer to be done were denied by the customer and not completed. Based off the customers complaint he states that he took his vehicle to another dealer after he left our dealer with his Jeep in working order, to have some work done but we have no idea of what was done and we were not made aware of them. Any issues that arose after leaving our dealer may be from them and not from our technicians. One of the sales managers did offer to take the customers vehicle in as a trade with a fair above market value to assist the customer due to the repairs and issues he was having with his Jeep but the customer chose not to accept the fair offer and we have not heard from him after that. We did the repairs detailed and have all records to corroborate what was done as well as the customers’ acceptance to do the work. No further offer or ocunteroffer will be made with this issue."
