Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"My wife called Combined Ins. on March 16/11 to cancel two small life insurance policies. During the conversation the customer service rep informed her that the accident policy #R6220463 we needed to drop because we had added on a new accident policy #T4010790 in December 2010; sold to us by their Agent, Dawn Bultena; Agent #GJDL.(she is no longer an agent for the company). She is still a licensed agent for the state of South Dakota. The benefits were briefly explained and told they were basically the same and we would not be losing any important benefits to make any difference. My wife was very confused but was assured by the home office rep that she could not have both policies. Since that time we have found out that this is NOT true. On August 2, I had a major accident and they paid us(on the lesser policy-- $2,400.00.) If I had the original policy it would have paid over $10,000.00 If you subtract what they have already paid and then we are asking for compensatory damages of $3,000.00. We are asking a total of $15,000.00 - $2,400.00 - $12,600.00. We feel they misrepresented and were fraudulent making us drop a policy we had for years and wanted to keep, leaving us without the coverage that would have made a HUGE difference for us during my disability and recovery. They should have let us keep both policies as we had intended. Dawn Bultena the agent had been to our house in December 2010 and gone over our coverages and set us up for our benefits and we knew our coverages and felt we were covered now. What Combined did over the phone was inconsionable."
