Claimant's opinion: I feel that Mr. Simpson charged me excessively for the shoddy job he did. I feel he misrepresented his skills of being a "professional" which is proven by the pieces he refinished for me. They were certainly done in poor quality. I have the pieces as proof of his below standard work.
Claimant's opinion: Mr. Simpson, in my opinion, gave me misleading information concerning his skills with his scrap book of "past" jobs, and with his website. He certainly talked the talk, but he did not walk the walk!!!
Claimant's opinion: I was more than willing to pay the amount of $3,645.00 for a truly professional job. However, the job he did made the cost unreasonable. He overcharged for the work he actually did. I could have done the quality of work that he did, and I am certainly not a skilled refinisher.
Claimant's opinion: I do feel totally ripped off by Mr. Simpson. I have shown many friends the pieces he did. They have called him a "crook, a scam artist, and a disgrace to the profession."
Your contract was with Maurer Woodshop LLC, and not me personally. Maurer Woodshop LLC is out of business, and the articles of dissolution were filed with the State of Indiana, back in May, after your projects were completed. Therefore, no legal action can be taken against me personally, and Maurer Woodshop LLC no longer exists and has no assets. That is why we did not charge you a storage fee for keeping your items after completion, even though your contract said we were allowed to charge $10 per week per item for storage.
Mr. Simpson did pick up and make the piano stool, the small step stool, and the small rocking chair look somewhat better. He did not repair the roll top on the desk that he was paid to do, and he refuses to refund my money or make an adjustment on the cost. He has not mentioned anything about refinishing the radio cabinet in a professionally acceptable way. Nor has he offered to make the 2 corner cabinets acceptable. He seems to have tried to cover his bases by saying his business is no longer a business and nothing can be done personally to him. However I think this is bogus, and it also shows the shoddy character of Mr. Simpson which matches his work. I am still not satisfied, and really wonder how many others are out there that have been taken by him?

PeopleClaim is a new way to resolve disputes online without lawyers or mediators. By inviting suggestions from the public, disputing parties get ideas that can lead to settlement – and the person(s) who contributed them can win a reward.
Here's what to do: Read the case (left side of page). Then go to the bottom of the page and enter your suggestion in the space provided. Click the Solution button.
Your suggestion will be sent to both parties and will post on the claim. If the two sides agree to settle based on your suggestion, you're eligible to win. Note: Cash rewards may be split among more than one person if settlement depends on ideas from more than one contributor. If you have a claim of your own to resolve, click here.
You can submit up to three solutions / rebuttal, you would like to settle or to be voted on.
