Claimant's opinion: I have been working with the company chilis for the past 5 years. I have always been a hard worker. I work 5 days a week including weekends and holidays. I brought quality to the store. They made me a trainer to other employees because of my hard working habits, selling skills, people skills and my exceptional work ethics. I have never had a black mark on my record in 5 years. All of my guests love me and wait all night just to sit with me. I have always gone above and beyond for my company and have always done all of what they have asked of me and then some. Recently we have gotten a new general manager of the name Steven Paul Duerringer, who since he has showed up to the restuarant makes it out to be an uncomfortable work place. Fellow employees would come to work complaining on how they were afraid to be at work and felt like they were constintly walking on eggshells. He let it be known that things would be done his way. He told me a lot of things because of my status in the store. So he opened up and let me know that he was there to run the show. If people didnt get onboard he would make sure that they didnt have a job. He told me a story of how he was best friends with the area director Rich Becker and nothing would ever happen to him. He told me how someone at his old store went to corporate and complained about him but because he was best friends with Rich it would never touch him. He made working uneasy and uncomfortable. We brought the attention up in the first mee survery which rates the store. When the second mee survery came around they didnt even pass them out to find out what was going on because there is so many bad things going on it would ruin his job. His job is based on those scores. He is never there to run the restaurant. It has been so poorly managed since he pushed out the only 2 good managers we had which was Fred callaway and Jose Fernos. You can go to them with questions and they will tell you. They hated working with him. Everyone does. He is unapprocable and unfriendly. He can walk right by you and not say hello or goodbye and that is not how a general manager of a restuarant should be. This restuarant never had the problems it has had recently until this general manager showed up. Everyone is constintly in fear of losing there job and reminded every shift that we were easlily replaced. This is not suppose to be the brinker way. Brinker corporation is suppose to inspire a happy, friendly, welcoming working enviornment. No one feels this was with Steven. When anyone had spoke up about this is the past. He made sure they were fired. So as time went on more of the good servers and managers we had were pushed out the door. I had got a friend of mine a job there. After 2 weeks of working there Steven started to harras her about her performace. Writing her up for things that were out of her control. Writing up only her even though others servers would make the same simple mistakes that all new servers make. He kept pinning things on her but no one else which isnt fair because if one person gets written up for that mistakes all servers should be getting written up for the same thing. She constintly left work in tears. He had her so down that she had to transfer out of the store to another location so she wouldnt feel constintly mistreated. But she got away lucky. This is when we started to notice a hidden agenda. Steven only associates we certain people at work. Which makes the rest of the staff feel unliked. We all feel unappreciated, uncomfortable and like we are not part of his team. Which doesnt make for a very happy work enviornment.So time went on and then we had got these new machines called ziosks. They wanted us the servers to push the guests to use them so they can get feed back and base our serving cappabilites off of that. I held the highest ranking when the machines first came out. Yet the problem with the ziosk machine is when the guests do have a problem it doesnt ask if it is a kitchen error of a server error. The month that Steven was out of town the restuarant was in shambles. He had given me his phone number and told me to keep him posted with things that were going on in the restaurant. I did. Guests would complain about the poor quality of the food. How long it was taking to get it. The food not coming out right so on and so forth. I had sent him pictures of food times so he knew what was going on and let him know that since he was gone the kitchen refused to do their job and guests were unhappy. He never responded to any of my texts to let me know that he was in understanding about what was going on nor that he would have a meeting upon his return. The week after his return, I showed up to work my shift and had a table of regulars that I was taking care of when he sat me down with another manager Kathy Martin and told me they had to talk with me about my percentage of guests with a problem. They told me that per Rich they had to write me up bc my percentage was like 2 points over what it was suppose to be. There were many other server that had high points like mine if not higher yet they were not written up so I felt like I was singled out. I explained to Steven that the numbers were high due to all the kitchen errors that month with him being out of town but he did not want to hear anthing I had to say. He also told me further actions may be taken. Yet, still no other servers were sat down and punished as I was. This had my start my shift in tears. I felt as if all my hard work and loyal service for the last 5 years meant nothing. Especially since the customer complaints were on lack of good management and food quality not on the services I had provided. So I decided to call corporate to complain. They heard my side of the story and said they would have to talk to Rich about it because he is the area director. Mind you once again he is also Stevens best friend. I told corporate about their friendship and how he said because Rich is he best friend he will never have anything to worry about. Obvisouly they were right. Corporate was suppose to return my phone call the following day, but they never did. Nor did they call me back at all. So I gave my best at people pleasing as I always do. Steven was back and working in the kitchen with the kitchen guys everynight and next ziosk print out my scores were at a 0%. I called him to let him know my numbers were back down but that didnt make him happy. He told me he was going to demote my closing and give me one less shift a week because of my numbers, that the new numbers didnt matter. I was shocked. Not only shocked I was hurt. I feel like it had nothing to do with my numbers that he had something against me and was looking for a way to get me out of there. So I was scheduled the following schedule but they took away my sunday close and made me a lounge one. Which was ok with me because it was mothers day that meant I could go home early and spend a little bit of time with my kids. As I went to do my check out the manager on duty Mark told me he had to talk to me. As we were sitting in the office he pulled out a piece of paper that was a write up and I had to read it and sign it. I had asked him a write up for what. As I preceed to read the piece of paper the tears began to build in my eyes. All I was reading was lies. I refused to sign the paper for I told him I will not sign something about myself that isnt true. Mark told me I had to call the restuarant the next day at 3pm and talk to Steven. Yet again I leave my job that I have loved and worked my butt off for 5 years for in tears. Never in 5 years have I or fellow staff memebers been talked down to, lied about, or as mistreated as much as we have since Steven has been there. I called the following day at 3 as requested but Steven wasnt there. I spoke with Mark who told me Steven asked if I could just show up to my shift 30 min early. As requested I showed up to work at 530 and had to sit and wait for Steven who did not show up until 5:50 (which is rude and unprofessional). He was unfriendly and demenaroing. He sat down and told me after last night he called Rich and spoke to him and they decided to let me go. I asked him how they could terminate me based on lies. That what was written down about me on the paper was not true and never happened and where did he get this information from. He told me the manager Rachel told him she went into our section (me and another girl Heather were working) and a table complained about a rude server and wouldnt return to the restuarant because of them. Which happens at Chilis at least once a week. The server was not me. None of my tables walked out as stated in my server write up. Nor did anyother the other events they stated take place. Hence forth to find out hte manager claiming these events is Stevens girlfriend Rachel. I feel wrongly accused, and termintated for reasons unfounded. I called corporate this morning and yet I am still to hear from there which makes me feel like I have no company to trust to do the right thing.I am a single mother of 2 that works hard to take care of her family.
