Claimant says:
"Took my incapacitated mother out of a nursing home on Saturday, September 24, 2011 and he picked her up and moved her, and brought her to her home in Woodstock against the families wishes and against medical advice. Abandoned my mother and left her without care. Neglected my fathers care. Did not verify there was care in place and there was not. Has done no due diligence, has instructed all caregivers, and everyone else not to speak to me or my sisters. Has and is threatening and intimidating caregivers to keep them from speaking to family.Has and is cutting my parents off from all family members. Has and is attempting to commit fraud, have my mother declared competent, and drain the estate of all its funds. Has already been telling the caregivers that he is billing the estate $75,000 for his work done to date. Rewrote her will, leaving the entire estate to one individual, that are not the natural heirs.Dismissed the current caregivers that were in place, selecting new caregivers, even ignoring the advice and help of the nursing home from which he removed my mother. Is calling my parents home 2-3 times/day. Since September 24, 2011, there have been at least 4 caregivers."

The claimant's settlement terms were rejected with the following explanation:

  • "Thank you for your e-mail correspondence dated October 12, 2011, regarding the above matter.

    After reviewing Melissa Pereira’s “Complaint Filed Against [Me]” with People Claim—her comments are based upon misinformation, and contain false allegations and false conclusions.

    I unequivocally deny each and every one of her assertions.

    I was retained by Melissa Pereira’s mother, Mary Lou Coughlin, on September 10, 2011, to represent her in fulfilling her requests that to my knowledge, had previously gone unheeded by her family members, to be released from the nursing home facility that she had been confined to for nearly three months—so she could return to her home in Woodstock with her husband, Gene.

    I do not have the time to respond point by point to Melissa Pereira’s
    “Complaint”—because I am otherwise engaged in representing and protecting the interests of my clients, including Mary Lou Coughlin.

    If you choose to publish Melissa Pereira’s “Complaint,” you are publishing at your own peril.
