Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"Since our first complaint about the poor customer service and the damages to our property caused by Artown Roofing; and their blatant refusal to repair our property has taken an unbelievable poor turn of events. It has been almost six weeks and Artown Roofing Company has yet to come and repair our property. We have had four companies come and provide us an estimate on the damage caused by Artown Roofing Company and the amount average was 609.00 dollars. We informed Artown Roofing Owner Cheryl Curtis (last name may not be correct) how disappointed we were but she verbally abused us, threaten us, sent us a notice for intent to place a lien on our home (she gave us 15 days) before the lien goes into effect, left us a harsh voice mail to this fact as well as an email, and has yet to repair our property. She feels we should pay her in full despite the fact her company did not honor the contract we previously agreed on. (Our bill 8160.95 and we paid 7551.95 deducting 609.00 so we could pay someone to repair our property to the way it was before 26 June 2012 when Artown's Labors destroyed it.) After our first contact with BBB Artown finally responded to our calls, by telling us we will send an inspector out to access the damages. It took Artown two weeks before they claim they came to our home. They have yet to make personal contact with us. We do not feel they deserve to be affiliated with BBB, companies that have the honor of BBB approval care about their customers and quality customer service; and they honor their contract. In their contract they clearly state they would clean up nails, staples all trash and debris upon completion of the job. Artown put in writing in our contract that they would use a magnetic tool to ensure they retrieved all nails and staples. They did not use such a tool and our children and their friends (ages 5-11) found nails and staples after Artown's laborers left our property. We had to ask the children to not play in our yard until we could clean up their un safe mess. When we told Artown Roofing about their un safe actions, the owner responded by voice mail and email that we did not have the authority to call anyone else to our property and if we did we were breaking the contract. We could not believe this response, safety should have been their concern, and our family and friends should have been a concern for them as well. However it was not and Artown has not expresses any remorse for this unsafe act. (Please note a week later we were still picking up nails, staples, shingles, and trash) Artown laborers used a leaking generator and truck left horrible oil spots throughout our drive way (which they have yet to clean and repair); their laborers chose to put the new shingles on our struggling plants and lawn when they could have placed their material on the walkway and driveway. Ultimately killing our plants and parts of our yard. Their laborers ate and left their personal trash throughout our yard (even after they were offered our personal trash can to use). We took pictures of our horrible ordeal which is still ongoing. I am asking BBB not to allow anyone else to be a victim of this company bullying tactics, and poor overall service."

  • Our driveway remains with stains from the generator leaking a substance, used by your laborers on 26 June 2012. Your contrator tried to clean it 7 August 2012, once our driveway dried the stains were still very visible. Your contractor had to use 120 to 140 gallons of our water; which we were not aware that we had to provide and pay for. We called your company on 7 August 2012 approxmately 1:15pm but as of 11:31pm 8 August 2012 we have not received a return phone call. (We asked for Jimmy or Cheryl)

What Claimant Wants Hide
Message from Claimant: On June 26th we had our roof replaced with a new roof by Artown Roofing Company. During this service their generator stained and ruined our driveway. They attempted to clean it but were unable to remove the stains that their company left on our driveway.
Now that we have finally received some rain we can judge if they did a good job on our roof. Sad to say for us they did not. We are smelling mold inside our home and discovered that our roof is soaked and allowing water to remain underneath it which drains in between the walls of our home. To add more injury to our ordeal this company labours committed some horrible against our home, our children, and our family.
When we investigated the smell we went to the attic found out the roof was soaked and they placed trash in our attic. (Water bottles and sandwich wrappers) we were shocked to find this especially since we had complained about how their labours left trash around our yard after they completed their work on June 26, 2012.
Our bill was 8160.65 we paid them 7551.65 we had to minus 609.00 because this was the amount to repair our drive way they destroyed. Now we find our roof was poorly constructed.
We have called Artown several times but they are not returning our phone calls.
We have pictures from June 26th 2012 until date. Please help us get this resolved.
Our home is located in O’Fallon Missouri the address is 8 Hidden Deer Court, 63368 (636-240-0356). Annita27@charter.net
