Claimant says:
"Rented me a bed full of bedbugs. They sent Orkin to verify. They removed the bed and I had to rent a bedroom set from another company. I ended up paying two rental companies. And having to pay numerous bills for extermination they finally had to tent the house which my family and I had to stay two days in a hotel and boarding my two dogs. When discussed with them all they did was laugh and I am still paying on the other bed an the chest of drawers."

The claimant's settlement terms were rejected with the following explanation:

    "At Aim Rental, we take bedbugs very seriously, that is why we have all our facilities and merchandise inspected and certified bed bug free once a month. (See Orkin inspection dated 9-19-12.)

    Seven months after delivering Carol Offley-Wood a bedroom package she reported bed bug activity to our Store Manager, Nathan Penn. On April 29, 2013, Orkin was contacted and we were told by them that if the merchandise we delivered to Ms. Offley-Wood had bed bug activity it would have been detected immediately not after seven months.

    On May 8, 2013, Orkin inspected Ms. Offley-Wood’s home and found all rooms to have “much clutter” and “much bed bug activity.” On May 13, 2013, Aim Rental picked up our merchandise and disposed of it. We wanted to keep Ms. Offley-Wood as a customer so Mr. Penn and I discussed re-delivery of additional merchandise only if Ms. Offley-Wood could certify that her residence was bed bug free. If it was not bed bug free we could not afford to take a loss of two bedroom packages. Ms. Offley-Wood was not able to provide us with what was needed to re-deliver.

    We do not feel that we were responsible for Ms. Offley-Wood’s bed bug infestation because of the timeline and our monthly certification and do not owe Ms. Offley-Wood any monetary restitution.
