Statement of Claim

Claimant says:
"My son was a student at the therapeutic boarding school Boulder Creek Academy. During his last semester at school he mismanaged with his medications that led to hospitalization. The events that led up to his hospitalization could have been monitored and could have prevented his hospitalization. The school psychiatrist, Alan Unis, M.D., is an independent contractor with Boulder Creek. He is not on site nor did he monitor my son as he added a medical food supplement called Deplin while changed 2 other medications in a 3 week period. One of the medications is to tapered off and he was taken off cold. He subsequently had voices, hallucinations, and was hospitalized. The affects of this hospitalization are blocking his progress in this therapy at home. He has now started a new type of therapy to try to get the visions and fears to clear so he can continue to progress in his life. He needs additional help and support and I am requesting a refund of the semester that he basically lost progress and was hospitalized due to the negligence."

  • I received an email from Tai last week. They have not answered any of my questions about my son's care in fact they avoid even talking about it. Today I sent in the claim against Dr. Alan Unis to the Idaho State Board and will file a legal suit. I want answers. If this Deplin is so great why are other parents talking about it? Not one other student to my knowledge was given this test or diagnosis.

    Dear Ms. Kennedy:

    Please be informed that Boulder Creek Academy has received and reviewed all of
    the information provided by you via email and other formats from August 2016 to
    date.

    We have not ignored your information; however, our conclusion is that we are not
    in a position to grant your request for reimbursement.
