Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"my name is John Nai, I live in Springfield Ma. I had Directv for almost in seven years and in those years the bill would flex up and down. i had complained to customer service about this matter. One day In November of 2011 I called Directv and complained to customer service about my bill, to find out the women at the other end of the phone apologized to me stating that the ledger they had on myself and my account was all screwed up. I had my service cancelled, talked to customer service paid a 267.00 fee on 12/22/11, sent back all equipment. Then on 7/13/12 I received in the mail from CBE group that my account is in collections.I called Directv They had told me i will be charged for boxes i don't even have for the next two years. I explained to the lady on the phone. Total is 508.19 with collections which there was no contract with directv it had expired. Not only being charged outrageiously, but now its on my credit report. According to customer service it could reach over $1000. I really thinking of filing a class action suit if this isn't resolved. My account is 036432842"

    Thanks for contacting DIRECTV. We understand that you're disputing the balance on the account. We called you today at around 1:18 pm, but were unable to reach you.

    DIRECTV significantly discounts the price of equipment and installation, so we ask you to agree to a programming commitment of 24 months effective when you accept and activate service. If you cancel your service or do not maintain the minimum programming requirements, DIRECTV reserves the right to charge an early cancellation fee.

    I understand that on 7/14/11, a DVR receiver order was completed for your account. This receiver was installed and activated on 8/4/11.

    We take great care to ensure that the terms and conditions of our service, including programming agreements and early cancellation fees, are disclosed to each customer. Details about programming agreements and early cancellation fees are included in our advertising and point-of-sale materials. This information is also included in the confirmation letters sent by DIRECTV after you place an order for equipment and in the DIRECTV Equipment Lease Addendum, which is signed at the time of installation.

    DIRECTV has reviewed your account and determined the account balance to be valid and due. Please contact CBE Group for further information regarding pay off and arrangements.
