Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I saw a pickup truck for sale on St. Petersburg Marketplace. I contacted the seller and offered their asking price for $1200. I was informed the truck was not in St. Petersburg but was in Virginia and the seller would use eBay Motors to ship the truck. I was provided instructions to purchase eBay gift cards and to send the number on the back of the cards to the email address provided. I purchased the eBay gift cards from CVS. After I sent the numbers, I was requested additional $1500 to provided insurance for the truck in transit. The money would be refundable one the truck arrived undamaged.

At that point I contact my friend to review my purchase and he told me that I had been scammed. I contacted eBay and reported the fraud. I filed a report with the Federal Trade Commission, verbally complain to CVS, filed a complaint with eBay and reported the fraud to the Sheriff Department St Petersburg. I also filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau against eBay

The only action to date was from eBay who said they blocked the card numbers, but it was too late, the numbers had been used."
