Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"On February 15th, 2010, Darrell and I agreed to some work on our house. At or about that time, I paid him $4,500. Darrell prepared some plans for us and made a number of measurements. However, we were unable to get a permit. I contacted Darrell by phone in May of 2010 and told him that unfortunately we were unable to get the permit and would not be able to do the work. We discussed payment and agreed that $500 for his efforts would be fair. At that time, Darrel stated that he would be able to return the balance of the deposit within a short period of time and would send a check next week.
Despite numerous phone calls, a certified letter sent in July 2010, and a personally delivered note most recently—I have heard nothing from Darrell. I understood that Darrell must be facing some financial hardships. So I offered a number of different options to Darrell from sending me the $4,000 immediately to working with my husband on various renovations to our house to pay down the debt.

After I sent a letter to his wife, Barbara Bickel, offering the same options as above (letter dated March 11, 2011). Darrell Bickel called my husband, apologized, and said he would definitely be available to work on our house to pay of his debt. Since then, despite numerous attempts on our part; Bickel has refused to contact us.

I want my $4500 back. I do not trust him to do any work for us."

  • I too have been ripped off by Darell Bickel and his construction company.  I have a written contract for work on my house that was NEVER started, but $6500,00 was paid to him as a deposit.   This contract was signed back in April of 2016 and NO  work was ever started. It is now 1/2017.    I have known Mr. Bickell for approx 40 years and he keeps on refering back to "friendship matters" not when he has taken $6500.00 and nothing to show for it.  He claims that he is a "good helpful person".  Don't let him scam you with this falsehood.  I can't stress enough DO NOT TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH HIM.  You will come up the loser and scammed!!!!  I am taking action to get my money returned which HE stated (and I have proof) that he will return the $6500.00, but it has now been a month and no $ has come forth.
