Statement of Claim
Claimant says:
"I purchased a Long Term Care Policy for Nursing Home, Assisted Living or Home Care Protection on February 8, 2001 for $128.64. On January 1,2011 I was notified that the cost would be $173.31. That was more than we thought we could afford so we opted to take less benefits for the cost of $140.95.
Now on September 8, 2015 the cost of my reduced benefits went up to $189.80. I contacted the company and was told I could reduce payments only by taking another deduction in benefits. In my opinion that would make the policy useless.

Now what also upsets me is that now that I will be 80 years old in 2016 and am getting to the point that I am more likely to use it then they raise the rate. Then my concern is that will they raise cost again and put me in a place where I can not afford it at all. Also, what if I need to go on Medicaid and can not afford to continue to pay it?
When I purchased this policy I do not remember that the continued price per month could go up and what would happen after I paid in 17 years and then I can not continue my payments.
I want some guarantees here. I want to be grandfathered in at the rate of 140.95 with the same benefits after all I have paid in 17 years now. I feel this is fair and there should be laws to help me in this case.
Are there any laws or regulations that can help me in this situation?"
